ARTISTICULTA DANCE FESTIVAL

RULES

1. AFFILIATION

The closing date for all entries will be given to each province respectively. Please go

on your website www.artisticulta.co.za and click on the art department of your

choice. On that page a list will appear of each province and city. The venue and

date will be listed next to the province/ city of your choice.

If dancers enter on their own, affiliation fees are not applicable.

Affiliation Fees: R180 per teacher/studio

2. ENTRIES

A detailed entry form is included. No late entries will be accepted. Entry fees are to be paid

into the following account:

R85 Per dancer per item: Solos, Duos, Trios, Quartets, Groups (4 - 15 dancers), Formations

R180 Teacher affiliation fees

R30 Adult (spectator) (13 years +)

R20 Children/Pensioner (spectator)

No entry or affiliation fees are refundable

5. SCORING SYSTEM

A++ certificate, gold medal and trophy 95% - 100%

A+ certificate, gold medal 88% - 94%

A certificate, gold medal 80% - 87%

B+ certificate, silver medal 75% - 79%

B certificate, silver medal 70% - 74%

C+ certificate, no medal 69% and under

Trophy prizes are given to the best junior and senior dancers for personality, technique

and choreography.

Championship winners receive money prizes

6. APPEARANCE, ADJUDICATION, RESULTS AND QUERIES

Costumes, music and appearance have to be acceptable. No parent/teacher is allowed to

have contact with adjudicators while adjudicating! The student will be disqualified! No

jewellery or nail polish on stage.

7. WITHDRAWALS

Withdrawals must be done either at the beginning of the day, or during the tea, lunch, or

supper break. Please don't wait until the item starts before cancelling. It wastes time and

looks unprofessional. For withdrawals no fees are refundable.

8. VIDEO CAMERAS AND CAMERAS

No video cameras or flash cameras are allowed in the hall. Candidates will be disqualified.

A DVD will be made of the whole Arts Festival. A professional photographer will be present to

take photos. If teachers/dancers would not like their item(s) to be recorded they can just

email us before hand so that those items will not be recorded.

9. MUSIC AND MOVEMENTS

Items with music that contain harsh or strong language will not be tolerated and

performances must be free of vulgar and provocative movements. Music must be send via

dropbox where we will collect it and place it in our system. Teachers must still bring a

memory stick with all their music on as a backup for if a problem occurs. Closer to the time

an email will go out to where you can dropbox your music.

Teachers should use their own discretion as to where they should enter a child: this includes

new Studios participating for the first time in Artisticulta. Please note that we don't have a

quartet section only duets and trios. A quartet will be seen as a group.

14. GENERAL RULES

All candidates must arrive 1 hour before performing. If not performing, no candidates and

spectators are allowed backstage. Should a competitor be injured or run off the stage

during his/her dance, a two-minute recovery time will be given. With character dances no

fire, knives, alcohol or smoking will be allowed. The Artisticulta organising team will not be

held responsible for any property losses or injuries.
