A Note From Operation: Care and Comfort

Dear Friends and Supporters,

The year is half over! July 4th we celebrate Independence Day with parades,

fireworks, BBQs and more. Let’s remember the troops s$ll deployed around the globe

along with their families who will observe the holiday without them. Of course, we

must never forget our Gold Star families and their heroes who lost their lives while

serving our country.

June was a blur. D-Day, Flag Day, Father’s Day, Girl Scout cookies and a lot of baseball

$ckets made it a special month. Our volunteers worked so hard to make Father’s Day

bags, pack and mailed fabulous care packages for forward deployed troops, and we

supported a long$me volunteer who is recovering from major medical issues. How I

love our OCC team!

We are grateful to the individuals, organiza$ons and companies who help support our

military care package program with care package items and postage funds. A big

“hooah!” to the sports teams and their season $cket holders who donate $ckets to us

so we can send troops, vets and their families to spor$ng and entertainment events

FREE! THANK YOU!

We announced that on Saturday August 21st, the San Jose Giants will be hos$ng a

charity poker tournament benefi$ng OCC at Excite Ballpark, and now the links to

register are live!

Poker, Turkey Mikes’s BBQ lunch, silent auc$on, raffle plus a fantas$c gi> bag for the

first 100 players and 50 guests. There are also sponsorship opportuni$es. A huge

San Jose Giants & OCC Charity Poker Tournament

Troops / Military Vets Can Play Free!

The San Jose Giants and Opera�on: Care and Comfort are sponsoring a Texas Hold'em

Poker Tournament. The event will be at Excite Ballpark, Saturday, August 21.

This is our third poker tournament and as we have in the past, troops and veterans

can sign up to play for free — on a first come, first serve basis. Spots are limited, so

check your calendar and join the fun!

We offer other ways for those who wish to participate and/or attend the tournament.

If you are an individual who wishes to play in the tournament, are over the age of 21.

Travis AFB Troops in Training A�end A's Game!

Thanks to the Oakland A’s organiza�on.

Troops were training at Travis AFB and were

able to a�end the day game on Wednesday,

June 17, 2021 —FREE— through OCC!

Hello Julie and friends at OCC,

I like to thank you and your team for the support you've given to us as always from

our last deployment in 2015-2016 and now! I sent the request when we were at our

mobiliza�on site, Fort Hood, TX and by the �me we arrived in theater, we received our

first care package!

Pallet of Cookies To USCG Base Alameda & Giants

Game!

On Thursday, June 16, some Coas�es

from Alameda drove to San Jose to

collect a pallet of Girl Scout cookies from

OCC.

OCC also gave them more than 70

awesome Fathers Day bags which were

distributed at the base.

Thanks to the San Francisco Giants

organiza�on, 20 Coas�es were also

treated to the Giants game on June 16,

in the Alaska Airlines Lo+ Suite.

Girl Scouts Donate Cookies To OCC

Speaking of GS Cookies! OCC wants to say THANK YOU to all of the Girl Scouts,

parents and leaders who worked so hard to sell cookies. The cookies were then

donated to OCC.

OCC shared the yummyness with DLA Tracy, USCG Alameda, 129thRW, Presidio of

Monterey, 63rd RSC, MEPS, 349th AMDS, CA Na)onal Guard Armories Camp Parks

and Salinas, USCG Cu+ers Munro, Camp Parks, Camp Roberts and more!

OCC will also include those cookies in our care packages going to forward deployed

troops, and in care kits here at home!
