62,808 total crashes reported, a 0.5% decrease from 2008529 fatal crashes reported, a 4.2% decrease from 2008592 fatalities reported, a 1.3% decrease from 2008262 alcohol/drug related fatalities, an 1.1% decrease from 200832.5 billion vehicle miles traveled, the same as in 2008

• The fatality rate remained the same at 1.8 fatalities per 100 MVM* traveled.

• The fatal crash rate decreased from 1.7 in 2008 to 1.6 crashes per 100 MVM* traveled.
