IntroThe apostrophe is a part of

punctuation; it is used to indicate missing letters or possession. Here are some examples:

Sally’s donkey is fat and ugly.

Or…

I can’t dance with that octopus.

This is how you use it:You put the name or thing

Then our beloved… apostrophe!Then you add an s. Here is an example

Fatty’ s foot. Or…Gertrude’s pet giraffe

If the word is plural…Just add an apostrophe

on the end!!Pour exemple…

The other type of usage of theapostrophe is for missing letters.

You use it to make a word into what we call a contraction.

A contraction is a shortened word, like shouldn’t; it was used when a letter

was skipped; they add should and not together, then remove the o.

There is no real pattern for finding contractions;

you’d be better off just looking on

Google.
