people in that period. In our regular quarterly help Jan through March 24 we made 92 home visits, brought 106 bags of food, and helped with $10,077 of rent/utilities, as well as giving help with SVDP store vouchers, furniture, gift cards and bus tickets. Thank you for your generosity in helping us help our neighbors.

SACRED STORY RESOURCES - WEEK 29 For Week 29, we continue to learn about spiritual discernment. In addition to our daily prayer with the five concepts, we will read additional pages. We are reviewing and seeking a deeper understanding of the human participation in the fallen world and the Grace of God’s saving Love. Sacred Story Resources can be found on the Sacred Story Institute’s website –free membership (sacredstory.net). To subscribe to the parish weekly email outreach, contact [email protected] The next Sacred Story gathering is May 4th at 7pm in the Parish Office Library OR ZOOM. There is a ZOOM invitation sent in the weekly email. All are welcome. ST VINCENT de PAUL UPDATE: We are in urgent need of cash donations to meet the increased requests for rent and utility assistance. Checks can be made out to “St Vincent de Paul” and mailed to the parish office. Thanks to your generous donations our food bank is well stocked at this time. We are grateful for your help.

OUR LADY OF SEATTLE PRAYER

Holy Mary, we come before you as spiritual children in great need, seeking your intercession, and asking that your mantle of love surround us to console, protect, and lead us to your son Jesus. We entrust all of God’s family, especially the Church in Western

PASTORS CORNER My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Our St. Matthew Community is thriving, although at a distance! So many of you have been joining us for our live stream liturgies ~ more than 100 on Easter Sunday, with hundreds more viewing the liturgy later in the day. Thank you to Catherine Hildebrand and Marshall Hurson for their expertise and loan of equipment that has significantly improved our video quality. More than 130 school and parish families have sent in their pictures for our pews, They have been print-ed out and taped to the backrest of the pews. These pictures are what I get to see when I celebrate our Facebook Live Mass. Our team of pastoral ministers to the homebound have called approximately 265 people to offer prayer, encouragement, and to just check in. The team making the calls include Lorna Canono, Ed Jose, Gus Ripple, Mary Cross, Diane Reeves, Mariela Fletcher, Joanne Bowen and Susie Canney. Once initial calls were made, many of the home-bound requested weekly calls, and expressed grati-tude for the caring community of St. Matthew. We are extremely grateful for all of you who have either donated on-line, or sent in your donations by mail. Your financial support is important because it allows us to pay our bills, and to keep staff employed. The women of Lisieux House are not only praying regularly for St. Matthew, but have offered to help St. Vincent de Paul with food deliveries if needed. Many of you have also made extra donations to St. Vincent de Paul so they can help people in our community who are struggling with their rent and utility bills. Pope Francis said in his Easter Vigil Homily: “How many people, in these sad days, have done and are still doing what those women did, sowing seeds of hope! With small gestures of care, affection and prayer.” Thank you St. Matthew for doing exactly that. I continue to keep you all in my prayers, and ask you to continue to pray for us. In Christ, Fr. Khanh D. Nguyen Pastor

SVDP REPORT - With your generous help we have been able to respond to our neighbors in the Covid crisis. For the 3 weeks ending 4/14/20 we gave $5807 in rent/utility help to 34 families, helping 73 people. We have pivoted our visits to telephone now vs home visits. We deliver food in outdoor park-ing lots when asked - 18 bags of food helping 37

“Excellence – Diversity – Community”

Our school has been closed since March 16, but the learn-ing has continued. We have loaned iPads or ChromeBooks to all students who need them and distributed learning packets to families. Our teachers have been working hard to move to virtual learning and have been doing a great job! Our students in grades Kindergarten to 3 are using See-Saw for lessons with their teachers. Our students in grades 4 to 8 have meetings and lessons with their teachers and use Google classroom to do assignments. Mrs. Prepotente posts a daily greeting each day and includes an inspirational message (available each school day on our website). We are ready for these new challenges because of our amazing and dedicated teachers, and because of past sup-port from generous donors to our previous technology fund a needs and fund drive. Thank you!

Washington into your Immaculate hands. With your Son Jesus’ gentle power, you can undo any knot in our Church, and in the lives of believers who entrust themselves to your care. Today I especially entrust to you [mention request here/Coronavirus], and I ask that through your intercession, and that of Saint James, our Guardian Angels, and the faithful in our diocese – we may be free from every spiritual and temporal ill, and be safely led to encounter your Son’s Merciful, Sacred Heart.

Our Lady of Seattle, Undoer of Knots, pray for us!

Let us begin, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Today bring to Me ALL MANKIND,

ESPECIALLY ALL SINNERS, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me. Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

The 9-day Novena to the Divine Mercy is so

powerful that it can be prayed to:

* Ask for the forgiveness of sins;

* Ask for God's Mercy and Compassion;

* Ask for special blessings and graces;

* Intercede for our families, loved ones and friends;

* Intercede for all mankind and the whole world.
