Scottish Charity No

14th SUNDAY OF YEAR A
8th-9th July 2017 ENTRANCE
ANTIPHON
Your merciful love,
O God, we have
received in the
midst of your
temple. Your
praise, O God, like
your name, reaches
the ends of the
earth; your right
hand is filled with
saving justice.
Psalm 47.10-11
COMMUNION
ANTIPHON
Taste and see that
the Lord is good;
Blessed the one
who seeks refuge in
him
Psalm 33.9
1st Reading: Zechariah 9.9-
10: The prophet’s ministry
took place during the 500s
BC after the return of the
people from the Babylonian
exile. This passage looks for-
ward to the Messiah’s arrival
and his words are used in the
Gospels to describe Jesus’
entry into Jerusalem.
Response to the Psalm:
I will bless your name for
ever, O God my King
2nd Reading: Romans 8.9-
13: We belong to Christ
since his Holy Spirit lives in
us and empowers us to live
spiritual lives.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Blessed are
you, Father, Lord of heaven
and earth, for revealing the
mysteries of the kingdom to
mere children. Alleluia!
Matthew 11.25-30: Our
knowledge and experience of
God comes through Christ’s
revelation. He has entrusted us
with knowledge of the Father.
This draws us into the life of
the Trinity itself so that we are
part of the relationship
between the Father and Christ.
Because of this
we find rest in
God, even with
our burdens and
sufferings.

This Sunday we celebrate SEA SUNDAY. Sea Sunday is when the
Church remembers in prayer all those who live and work at sea. With-
out them we would not have most of the items we buy in the shops.
Next week’s second collection is for the Apostleship of the Sea (AoS),
the Church’s official maritime welfare agency. It supports seafarers
both practically and spiritually. This collection is vital to enable it to continue its
work, so please give generously and remember seafarers in your prayers. For more
information, visit www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk
Please pray for the eternal rest of Maurizio Puricelli whose Requiem Mass took place on Thursday. May the Lord receive him into his arms of mercy and send his Holy Spirit of comfort and consolation on his wife Maureen and her family at this time of their loss.
Please remember in your prayers our sick and housebound: Helen Kelly, Chrissie Kelly, Mary Canning, Roisin
Daly, James Sloan, Karen Forbes, Mary Kelly, Ann Martin, Walter Britton, Raymond Gallagher, Maureen Campbell,
John Wilson, Patricia Clisby, Una Delaney, Isobel Gardner, Lynett Moses, Mary Whitcombe, John McKernan,
George Wisdom, Joan McKay, Michael McKay, Anne Marie Reilly, Aaron Joseph Higgins, Karen Derbyshire,

We thank God for the
Ordination to the
Priesthood for our
diocese of Bernard
Mournian and John
Paul McShane. May
the Lord pour out his
grace and blessings
upon them. We also
pray for Bruce
McPhail, Sean Wylie and Paul Denny who
will be ordained for the diocese later this
year. May this great blessing from God of
five new priests fill our hearts with gratitude
and confidence for the future.
