Pathway to the Baccalaureate

During Advising Week and the rest of the spring semester, the students in the Pathway to the Baccalaureate Program at the Annandale Campus will need to make sure they meet with their assigned Pathway Counselor. Students are re-quired to complete a Mid-Semester Progress Report (MSPR), which can be printed from the Blackboard site or picked up at the Pathway office in CA 112. Once the MSPR is completed, Pathway students should schedule an appointment with their assigned Pathway Counselor via Student Success Planner at www.nvcc.edu/ssp. During the advising session appointment, Pathway students will get assistance identifying degree and transfer requirements, academic standing, and choosing the appropriate classes for the upcoming semester; after this is complet-ed, the Pathway holds will be removed so students can register for classes on their own. Pathway students can also contact their assigned Pathway Counselor with any questions regarding advising Week expectations or requirements.

First Year

Make Registration a Priority!

See Your Advisor TodayNavigating your academic journey by yourself is not a good idea. All first-time-to-college students (17-24) are required to meet with an advisor before registra-tion. A second advising hold has been placed on your record, and you will not be able to register for classes until you meet with an advisor. If you have this hold, it means in order for you to begin signing up for your Fall 2018 classes beginning on Monday April 2nd, it is mandatory that you meet with a first-year advisor who will be able to discuss your course selections for next semester and remove this hold.

Why Meet With An Advisor?Your success at NOVA is important to us. The Office of Student Success First Year Advisors will assist students with the following:• Create an academic plan for success! Work with your advisor to identify

classes to enroll for Spring 2018 and set up a plan for each semester until you graduate.

• Learn about the transfer requirements. Speak with your advisor about the requirements for transfer and the courses to take at NOVA to complete them.

• Explore the education and training requirements needed to pursue your career goals. Ask your advisor about the type of majors, degrees, and certifi-cations needed for your career industry.

How to Meet With An AdvisorTo make contact with an advisor to discuss your classes, college experience, or how your educational, career, and transfer goals align, simply do the following:• Sign-in as a walk-in at the Advising Center in CA 112. Walk-in meetings

are up to 15-minutes long to ensure efficiency and availability of staff. • If you need longer than 15 minutes, you are encouraged to schedule an ap-

pointment with your First-Year Advisor.
