HOW TO REGISTER:Registration begins February 1st at all YMCA locations. We encourage you to register early due to limited spacing and to ensure your spot.

You must obtain a registration packet from the site you are planning to attend before registering your child for camp. The registration packet is located at each facility and online.

YMCA Summer Camp 2014 — Weekly Themes Weekly Fee: $125 Members / $150 Non MembersAges 5-12

Week 1: Get this party started (June 16-20) Kick off the summer at YMCA Camp. Games, sports and team building activities will get your camper ready for an awesome summer. Week 2: So you wanna be a Rock Star??(June 23-27) Rock(s) is the theme this week and you’re gonna be a rock star!! We’ll sing and dance, creating a music video (each group) that we will all view on Friday. Not a singer? Don’t worry: you can be a producer, video crew or an art director. We will also create our very own pet rocks to take home. Field Trip: Science Center Week 3: Happy Birthday America (June 30-July 3) Celebrate the U.S.A. with all things red, white and blue. Create patriotic themed arts and crafts, learn new twists on field games. We will have a hot dog cookout on Thursday, July 3rd. We will be closed Friday, July 4th. Week 4: Game Show Mania (July 7-11) “You’re the next contestant on the Price is Right” is just one of the phrases campers will hear this week at camp. Each day campers will get to play a club version of a popular game show. Such as Wheel of Fortune or Family Feud. Week 5: Wet N’ Wild (July 14-18) Bathing suits and towels are necessities for this week of camp with the fun and exciting water activities in store each day. We will play water kickball, water balloon toss is just a few of the events for campers to look forward to this week. Field Trip to Kool Park. Week 6: Color Wars(July 21-25) Campers will be in team challenges for various games and activities such as capture the flag, tug-of-war, scavenger hunts and more! Each team will be assigned a color and will create a special chant, symbol and shirt (Tie Dyed) to use throughout the week! Don’t miss the most colorful, competitive and exciting camp of the summer.

Week 7: Super Hero’s (July 28-Aug. 1st) Who will save the day? Be your favorite super hero this week. Create comic strips and books. Dress up as your favorite hero. Climb up spidey’s tower than try to make it thru the obstacle course, play superhero games and lots more. Field Trip: Carolina Theater Week 8: I Love The 80’s (Aug. 4-8) Bust out your leg warmers and your best Madonna impression for Week 8 of camp. Our campers and counselors will perform a special show highlighting their hidden talents on Friday.

Week 9: Treasure Hunters ( Aug. 11-15) If you’re a pirate looking for gold look no further than the YMCA’s Treasure Hunters week. One day this Week, we will have a treasure hunt searching for hidden treasures. Field Trip: Kool Park

Week 10: Holiday Camp ( Aug. 18-21) There will be no traditional camp this week, but we will have four days of Holiday Camp for your child (Mon-Thurs.) Spaces are limited. No field trip this week. Field Trips Subject to Change

Hickory Foundation YMCA Pre-K Camp ($45 Member / $65 Non Members)

YMCA CAMP LITTLE FEET is a half-day camp offered to children aged 3 - 5, who are potty trained. Camp Little Feet is an exciting way to spend your summer and have your child interact with other children before they start kindergarten. Our staff will provide an atmosphere of safety, teach and show Christian values - all while having fun. Activities include: arts and crafts, swim lessons, devotions, themed weeks, character development (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility), games and skill development.

WEEKLY COST: $45 YMCA Member / $65 Non Members

PROVIDED: Swim Lessons (Only on Wed/Fri) morning snack, all activities (art & crafts, games, etc), appropriate staffing that maintains 1:6 ratio (teacher:children)

WHAT TO BRING: Towel, bathing suit, water bottle, and tennis shoes/sneakers (NO SANDALS!) Please label all of your child’s belongings. If you send sunscreen with your child please make sure it is labeled with their name.

Don’t want to leave your teens at home this summer?

We are celebrating the 3rd year of Leaders In Training

(L.I.T.) Camp! At camp, teens are able to experience an

unforgettable summer filled with fun, learning and making

new friends! Each week is jam-packed with activities that

will stimulate their minds, offer opportunities to grow as

individuals and to travel to attractions in our area so teens

will perform community service projects by volunteering

at the YMCA, and community organizations. They will also

participate in trainings and certifications to prepare them

for leadership responsibilities to build self-esteem and

team building. L.I.T Camp is supervised by YMCA Adult Staff

that provide a safe atmosphere while creating everlasting

memories.

Week 1 (June 16-20) Color Wars- This is a five-day blitz of competition. Teens will be split into teams to compete against each other in a variety of games, tasks and challenges. At the end of the week teens will dress in all white and participate in an all-out messy color battle. $125

Week 2 (June 23-27) Video Games in Real Life – Don’t just sit and play video games, LIVE them! We are taking Call of Duty and Battlefield to the Paint Ball Fields. Taking Madden to The Panther’s Bank of America Stadium. Taking Forza Racing and Tiger woods golf to the NASCAR Speed Park for racing and putt putt golf. Learn how to survive zombies like in Deadrising. This week is about real games in real life for teens! Game On! $150

Week 3 (June 30-July 4) Belay Training- With Mountains around us and a climbing tower in our back yard teens will learn the proper safety techniques of belaying and rappelling. They will take what they’ve learned and complete a rope course challenge at the Beanstalk Journey. $125

Week 4 (July 7-11) Adventure Camp- Are you looking for a summer filled with new experiences? Then you don’t want to miss out this week of Outdoor Fun and excitement. Teens will learn how to build a shelter in the woods, safely craft a fire, hike Grandfather Mountain, and spend two fun packed days at the U.S. White Water Center in Charlotte. $175

Week 5 (July 14-18) Lifeguard Training with CPR & First Aid- Is your teen thinking about becoming a lifeguard? We’ll have them take some training and see what it takes! During this week teens will lean the different rescue strokes and dives, while learning the different techniques with recovering a drowning victim. Then they will get to not only see some of the difficulties/hazards that they may encounter at water parks and pools but also jump in and experience the fun $150 Field Trip: Kool Park

Week 6 (July 21-25) Defy Gravity- Don’t let gravity hold you down! This week allows Teens will make their own rocket launchers, learn a new bouncy ball recipe, and get the chance to jump into a totally unique and cutting edge experience at the Airbound Trampoline Park! $125

Week 7 (July 28-Aug 1) College/Career Prep- This week Teens will take a career personality test to see what they might have interest. Then tour different College Campuses to see what college they might want to attend in the future. $125 Field Trip: Campus Tours

Week 8 (Aug 4-8) All Thrills- This week of camp is dedicated to nothing but excitement! From a community-wide Instagram Scavenger hunt, racing on the climbing tower to a field trip to Carowinds! You won’t be bored this week! $175

Week 9 (Aug 11-15) Water Mania- All things with water! Teens will help build a water blob to bounce on, try and make the longest slip-n-slide, learn how to scuba dive, and take a trip to Wet-N-Wild to have fun with the water slides! $150

Week 10 (Aug 18-22) 5 Countries, 5 Days- In this week teens will explore the world with places such as Italy; where we will have the biggest spaghetti fight; Brazil where we will play the world cup; Russia where we will participate in the Olympics; Egypt where we will discover mummies; then back to America where we will have a Luau! We will experience food, culture, and fun sporting events! $125Field Trips Subject to Change

Soccer Camp sponsored by Hickory Christian AcademyDates: June 23-27Ages: 5-12 year-oldsThis year’s YMCA soccer camp will be conducted by the Hickory Christian Academy varsity coaching staff and players. This soccer camp is a means for H.C.A. coaches and players to give back to the community. We look forward to seeing you on the field!

C.O. Miller Memorial Basketball CampDates: July 14 - July 18Ages: 5 year-olds - Rising 7th gradersCampers will receive instruction in the various skills of basketball. Campers are challenged to learn through positive motivation and demonstration in small groups working with a coach. This camp will also include instruction from Rick Barnes (A University Head Coach).

Tennis CampDates: June 23-27, July 21-25, August 11-15Tennis Camp for ages 5 years old thru rising 8th graders. Campers will be instructed by Cy Smith, a certified tennis professional, in all tennis techniques. Tennis camp will focus on basic skills along with positioning strategies andincorporate fun games!

Camp is a fun-filled experience that begins Monday, June 16 and ends Thursday, August 20.

Hours/Staff Ratio:The program will operate from 6:30am - 6:00pm and our staff ratio is 1:13.

Lyle Creek YMCA Summer Camp(Weekly Fee: $100 Members / $120 Non Members)

Join YMCA Day Camp for one week or for an entire summer of FUN! We focus on honest, caring, respect, and responsibility in all of our activities; which includeeducational skill sessions, swimming, to arts and crafts, games and more. We provide fun-filled activities that allow for physical involvement, social interaction, educational opportunities, leadership building, personal growth and creativity. Day campers will be divided into groups by age with activities appropriate to the interests and needs.

Age: 5-12 (must be 5 before week starts) 13-15 (LIT program) Fee: Y member: $100 per week Non-members: $120 per week Registraion Fee: $35 (non-refundable)

YMCA Summer Camp 2014Hot Summer Nights Everyone knows the night sky is most beautiful in the summer, but do you know the names of the constellations? Do you know if the sky appears the same in Australia as it does in North Carolina during the summer? How did the cowboys fare in the summer as they moved the herds across the land? What are the popular summer sports? During our hot summer days we will study our hot summer nights and answer all of these questions together.

Week 1: Desert Island Challenge (June 16-20) Kick off the summer at YMCA Camp as we see who can survive on a desert island! We will explore our “island” and make a plan back to civilization. Character trait: Courage/Teamwork. No field trip this week.Week 2: Starry Skies (June 23-27) We will explore the summer night sky and all it has to offer. We will become star gazers and study constellations. We will end the week with an ice cream social! Character trait: Friendship. Field Trip: Science CenterWeek 3: Stars and Stripes (June 30-July 3) Why are starsand stripes chosen to represent the U.S.A? We will answer questions like these as we celebrate the U.S.A. with patriotic themed arts and crafts. Our week would not be complete without a cookout in the park on Thursday, July 3rd. Character trait: Respect. Field Trip: Park. We will be closed Friday, July 4th.

YMCA Summer Camp 2014Hot Summer NightsWeek 4: Home on the Range (July 7-11) We will study how the cowboys travelled across the land with herds of cattle. We will discover how cowboys coped with sleeping outdoors and why they pondered the night sky. Our campers will practice their roping skills with our own PrYme Time cow. Character Trait: Adventurousness. Field Trip: Lazy 5 Ranch.

Week 5: All Ball (July 14-18) This week is about all the different balls use can use and games we can play. Do you know how to juggle? All different types of sports will be discussed and played throughout the week. We will watch and support our local Crawdad’s team and end our week with a formal ball, complete with a disco ball! Character trait: Perseverance. Field Trip: Crawdad’s Game

Week 6: Christmas in July (July 21-25) Only six months to Christmas, but why wait? We will discuss how Rudolph helped Santa find his way, and how the stars helped navigate sailors. We will also study the North Star and see if it points to the North Pole. Join us for decorating the tree and silly reindeer games! Character trait: Generosity. Field Trip: Lowe’s Foods

Week 7: Car Hop (July 28-Aug. 1st) Summertime in the 50’s! What could be more fun than studying the night sky from a convertible dragster? In our blast from the past, we will make our own dragsters and have a drag race to see who builds the best and fastest car! We will end our week with a homemade drive-in movie! Character trait: Spirit. Field Trip: Carolina Theatre.

Week 8: Starry Nights Abroad-Part 1 (Aug. 4-8) During part one of our two week adventure we will travel to different countries and learn about their culture and how the summer’s night sky looks to them. This week we will focus on Japan and France. Character Trait: Honesty. Field Trip: Skateland

Week 9: Starry Nights Abroad-Part 2 (Aug. 11-15) During part two of our two week adventure we will continue to travel to different countries and learn about their culture and how the summer’s night sky looks to them. This week we will focus on Greece and Australia. Character trait: Tolerance. Field Trip: Kool Park

Week 10: Hawaiian Hullabaloo (Aug. 18-21) How do you say star in Hawaiian? Did you know there are only 13 letters in the Hawaiian alphabet? For our final week, we will study different islands of Hawaii and discuss the popular sport of Surfing. We will end our Hot Sumer Nights summer program with a luau! Character trait: Aptitude. No field trip this week.**All field trips are subject to change**

Volleyball CampDates: June 23 - 27Ages: 8 - 15 year-olds Bump, Set, Spike! This is an action packed week of volleyball drills and games. Campers will be divided by age and ability to focus on personal growth and development. This is a beginner-to-intermediate level camp that teaches proper technique on serving, passing, and hitting. Ages: 8-15

C.O. Miller Memorial Basketball Camp Dates: July 14 - July 18 Learn basketball fundamentals from University of Texas’ Men’s head coach Rick Barnes. Campers will spend Monday & Tuesday at Lenoir Rhyne University for an all-day camp and Wednesday-Friday at the Shuford Y. Campers will hone in on fundamentals by the watchful eye of experienced collegiate basketball coaches. Ages: 5yrs – rising 7th graders.

*Half-day camps run 6:30am-12:00pm. Participants must be picked up by 12:30pm at the Shuford YMCA. *Full-day camps run 6:30am-6:00pm. Participants must be picked up by 6pm at Lyle Creek Elementary School.
