As a Kurdish Canadian with a German Better-half, I feel right at home at Milbank Germany. One of the biggest reasons why I decided to join the firm, was the warm, friendly, and welcoming greeting I received from everyone. From the day I first walked in the office for my job interview, I immediately knew I would be valued here for who I am. Fortunately, that was indeed the case. Nearly two years later, I consider myself very lucky to feel the level of supportive energy and commitment from the entire team. I feel very proud to say: I belong here.

Office drinks in celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. The picture shows a diversified team from the Singapore office coming together to appreciate one of our many cultural festivals. In Singapore, the custom of offering sacrifices to the moon has been replaced by celebrating the festival with gathering of family and friends, thanksgiving and prayer. Moon-viewing parties is one way to enjoy the occasion, with family and friends sitting in gardens lit by paper lanterns, sipping tea, nibbling on mooncakes, and if so inspired, composing poetry in venerable Tang Dynasty fashion. Mooncakes (also featured in the collage) form a central part of the Mid-Autumn Festival, such that it is now commonly known as 'Mooncake Festival'. In Chinese culture, a round shape symbolizes completeness and reunion. Thus, the sharing and eating of round mooncakes among family members during the week of the festival signifies the completeness and unity of families.
