As seems to be the case every year the WPC goes off without a hitch! The 2011 WPC was no exception to the rule. Common place to most of us and almost an after- thought for those in attendance, but if not for the significant effort and countless hours of those behind the scenes the WPC would not be possible. A special thanks to Adam Westermann, Gary Haubner, Valerie Lucas, and Kay Sanborn for putting together a wonderful conference. In addition, the folks from Northern Kentucky Water District and Sanitation District No. 1 for being such gracious hosts. If ever a conference exceeded expectations I think WPC 2011 was the one! From begin- ning to end WPC 2011 provided something for everyone. I am very appreciative of the opportunity availed to me to be part of such a successful event and those who worked so hard to make it happen. See you in Memphis WPC 2012! OFFICERS: KY TN WEA Officer Profiles

Leanne Scott Paul Maron

Paul Maron, P.E. (Vice-President) grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and moved to Louisville, KY after graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1999. He has been a project engineer and manager with Strand Associates since graduation. Paul’s work has focused primarily on wet weather issues such as overflow abatement, I/I control, sewer rehabilitation, and Clean Water Act compliance. He is currently the KY vice president, past chair for the KY/TN WEA Management and Young Professionals Committee, co-founder of the Young Professionals Committee, and has served on or led numerous conference and event planning efforts for WEA and AWWA. Paul is a member of 5S and was the 2007 ASCE Kentucky Outstanding Young Engineer of the Year. He recently celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with his wife Valerie, enjoys going for runs with their dog Brady, home-brewing beer, and great books.

Leanne Scott (President), is currently serving as the President of the KY-TN WEA. For the past 25 years, she has worked for Metro Water Services in Nashville, TN – beginning at the water and wastewater plants, then at System Services working with the water distribution and sewer collection systems and for the past 15 years in the Engineering Division. Leanne’s job responsibilities for Planning and System Improvement, include flow monitoring, computer modeling, master planning, leak survey, water audit, operations support and the Water Infrastructure Rehabilitation/Renewal program. Prior to working at MWS, she worked for three years in Calhoun, GA for a carpet mat manufacturer as the plant engineer.

Leanne has been married to Joe for 25 years and have two teenagers. Rachel is a sophomore at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and Andrew is a junior at Franklin High School. Leanne’s favorite activities are sitting on the porch with Joe and cheering on her children in all of their athletic endeavors. Leanne is an avid sports fan – even though she says that she is terrible at them! She also loves to read, cook and dig in the dirt. “All of the clay and rock in my back yard make the digging a challenge, but it is a great stress reliever!”

Leanne has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University and a Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee. She also maintains Grade 4 Water Treatment, Grade 2 Distribution and Grade 2 Collection licenses and is a licensed professional engineer in Tennessee. “Being from West Tennessee and working at Allen Steam Plant in Memphis as a co-op student makes having the 2012 Water Professionals Conference there seem like coming home.”
