A REFORMED BAPTIST CONGREGATION

“Sing aloud with gladness!”

Jeremiah 31:7

Welcome to Redeemer Church

Redeemer Church is a Reformed Baptist congregation. We adhere to the Baptist

Confession of Faith of 1689, a doctrinal statement strongly grounded in the Word

of God. We gather to worship the crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ and desire

in all we do to be to the praise of the glory of His grace.

If you are our guest today and would like to make yourself known to us, you can

use the Guest Card in the seat pocket in front of you. After completing it, simply

drop it in the drop box at the entrance to the auditorium; and if you are our guest

today, please feel no obligation to give. As you leave, please take one of our Guest

Packets located at the entrance to the auditorium.

“Come, let us worship and bow down! Let us kneel before the Lord, our maker!”

A Prayer for The Lord’s Day

OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, we come because we desire to put ourselves

in that place and in that position of submission to Thy will. We thank Thee O

Lord for every experience Thou hast ever vouchsafed unto us which confirms

and proves this doctrine. We believe that our wills our ours to make them

Thine, and we thank Thee that we can say, ‘Thy way, not mine O Lord,’

however hard it be. O Lord, wilt Thou give us all the grace to be able to say

truthfully and honestly unto Thee that in all things both great and small:

sickness, in health, in friends, in service, in all things ‘not mine, not mine, but

ever and always Thine.’ O Lord, forgive us if we have any remnants of fear

within us to do this.. Enable us by Thy grace to follow in His glorious steps

who when faced with the ultimate, was happy in Thy perfect will. Hear us, O

Lord, and enable us and pardon us and forgive us for all our hesitations, all

our questionings and queries and doubtings. Forgive us our every sin. Amen.

The Lord’s Day | June 6, 2021 eventh

Second Sunday after Pentecost | 10:30 a.m.

REFLECTION

“Christ's boundless grace confronts our deep necessities. Christ's

promised presence confronts our sad and gloomy loneliness. Jesus

thus filled with grace so overflowing, with love so tender, with

sympathy so exquisite, with power so illimitable, with resources so

boundless, with a nature so changeless, stands before us and says to

each trembling heart, ‘Fear not!’”

― Octavius Winslow

GATHERING PRAYER

O God, from whom all good proceeds: Grant that by your inspiration we

may think those things that are right, and by your merciful guiding may do

them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and

the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Worship Service

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth;

from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same,

the name of the Lord is to be praised. Psalm 124:8; Psalm 113:3

The Lord is in His holy temple.

Let all the earth keep silence before him.

THE PSALM | PSALM 138

HOW GREAT THOU ART Words: Stuart K. Hine |Music: Swedish folk melody CCLI License # 11152837

Oh Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art

When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze: And when I think that God, His Son not sparing Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart Then I shall bow, in humble adoration And there proclaim, “My God, how great Thou art!”

PASTORAL PRAYER

BLESSED BE THE NAME Words: Ralph E. Hudson | Music: William H. Clark CCLI License # 11152837

All praise to Him who reigns above In majesty supreme Who gave His Son for man to die That He might man redeem

Blessed be the name Blessed be the name Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be the name Blessed be the name Blessed be the name of the Lord

His name above all names shall stand Exalted more and more At God the Father's own right hand Where angel hosts adore

Redeemer, Savior, Friend of man Once ruined by the fall Your love devised salvation's plan For those who hear your call

His name shall be the Counselor The mighty Prince of Peace Of all earth's kingdoms Conqueror Whose reign shall never cease

10,000 REASONS Words & Music: Jonas Myrin and Matt Redman CCLI License # 11152837

Bless the Lord, O my soul O my soul Worship His holy name Sing like never before, O my soul I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning It's time to sing Your song again Whatever may pass And whatever lies before me Let me be singing when the evening comes

You're rich in love and You're slow to anger Your name is great and Your heart is kind For all Your goodness I will keep on singing Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing The end draws near and my time has come Still my soul will sing Your praise unending Ten thousand years and then forevermore

A READING FROM THE EPISTLES | ACTS 17:16 – 34

PREPARATION FOR THE WORD

O CHURCH ARISE Words & Music: Keith Getty, Stuart Townend CCLI License # 11152837

O church, arise, and put your armor on; Hear the call of Christ our captain. For now the weak can say that they are strong In the strength that God has given. With shield of faith and belt of truth, We’ll stand against the devil’s lies. An army bold, whose battle cry is love, Reaching out to those in darkness. Our call to war, to love the captive soul, But to rage against the captor; And with the sword that makes the wounded whole, We will fight with faith and valor. When faced with trials on every side, We know the outcome is secure. And Christ will have the prize for which He died: Come, see the cross, where love and mercy meet, As the Son of God is stricken; Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet, For the Conqueror has risen! And as the stone is rolled away, And Christ emerges from the grave, This victory march continues till the day Ev’ry eye and heart shall see Him. So Spirit, come, put strength in every stride; Give grace for every hurdle. That we may run with faith to win the prize Of a servant good and faithful. As saints of old, still line the way, Retelling triumphs of His grace, We hear their calls, and hunger for the day When with Christ we stand in Glory.

READ: Counsels of the Aged to the Young It is greatly to be desired that the lessons of wisdom taught by the

experience of one set of men should be made available for the

instruction of those who come after them. We have, therefore,

determined to address a few short hints of advice to the rising

generation, on subjects of deep and acknowledged importance to all

GEORGE HERBERT: Prayer, the Church’s Banquet Our modern minds are not tuned to appreciate or to readily

comprehend the poetry of George Herbert. Take your time as you

read this short poem. What does Herbert want us to know about

prayer? Hebert was Spurgeon’s favorite poet.

Analyzing Unanswered Prayer

What are some of the reasons for unanswered prayer and how do

they affect our prayer life?

“Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy.” God asks us to

pause from the mundane routine which consume six days of

our week and rest in Him for one day each week. Spend this

day in public worship and private meditation.

PRAISES: -We have 3 new students who are interested in coming to Bible study. Pray that we will have wisdom to know what to study with so many seekers. -We continue to have more people interested and committing to the D-House internship program. We have 5 young people coming this fall who are interested in long-term service here. -Our biggest praise is for "Joe". Last week after coming to bible study, he said he thinks he wants to become a Christian! He wants to know the love and peace that he sees his girlfriend has and has experienced with our family. I don’t think he knows what all this means , but I suppose few of us really do at the time we believe. We’re so encouraged to experience his excitement in reading the Bible. PRAYER NEEDS: -Ongoing health challenges for Angela and a few of the kids. -Pray that we’d be sustained and strengthened as we’re experiencing spiritual warfare on many levels -Pray that borders would open up for the interns who are planning to come this fall, which would also provide our family with some community and co-workers -Pray for wisdom in the timing and planning for bringing Myah and Haley back for college. There’s so many factors and details to consider. Thank you for your prayers! We truly couldn’t be here without knowing you are behind us.

The Intimate Marriage

| WMUZ-AM 1200 | 8:30 AM | MON – FRI |

JUNE 7 – 11 on RENEWING YOUR MIND

One of the most precious gifts that God has given to

mankind is the gift of marriage. In the marital

relationship, God has determined that He will be

glorified as husband and wife delight in each other. In

this series, R.C. Sproul takes a practical and pastoral

look at the most intimate of human relationships. He

shows that if we follow God’s principles, marriage can

be a celebration of joyous intimacy—one of life’s

greatest delights.
