INSTAGRAM the mobile applica-tion is taking the world by a storm with over 500 million monthly users.

Instagram is proven to be one of the most loved mobile applications, so what makes it unique? It is a strictly photo and video sharing application where users can express themselves with art, photography, cooking and pretty much anything else out there.

What makes Instagram special and successful is the ability to connect with brands and make money. This is some-thing that many people often overlook. Here are some of the key steps when trying to make money on Instagram.

People make a living through pro-motion and collaboration with brands; for example a photographer takes pho-tos for Mercedes and gets paid whilst sharing it on their page. The impor-tance is to promote the product to your audience. These types of collaborations often only work for users with massive followings over 50,000.

Brands could target celebrities as they have the largest followings and followers are more likely to listen to

the stars rather than ordinary people. But it isn’t that simple. It is obviously a lot cheaper for brands to pay someone with less than perhaps 100,000 follow-ers and promote their products/servic-es. Non-celebrities are more likely to listen and get persuaded as they could be loyal brand followers who see the account growing from 100 followers to 50,000 which makes the relationship even stronger. Building audience is a crucial element as promoting products

that your audience will benefit from and find interest in is key.

Engagement - is also another important element. Interacting with your followers by replying on their comments will only build some sort of a closer loyal relationship and trust between you. Marketers care about relationship between content creators and followers as at the end of the day marketers are trying to sell their prod-uct to the instagrammer’s audience.

ROUND UPS

2016 took a big toll on the celebrity community, from film and comedy to music.

The year took a big loss in January with musician David Bowie. Followed on by music legend Prince, Harry Potter star Alan Rickman, everyone’s favourite man on telly, Terry Wogan, This Morning’s Denise Robertson and Star Wars favourite Kenny Baker.

The amount of celebrity deaths in 2016 was shocking to the world, especially with the news of the world’s favourite Star Wars actress, Carrie Fisher, who died in December 27, just aged 60. Followed by an even more shocking news of the death of George Michael, who sang one of the most

well-known Christmas songs in histo-ry, “Last Christmas” and unfortunately died on Christmas day, aged 53.

For most people out there, the most shocking news out of all the celebrities that have passed would be, the former heavyweight champion of the world, Muhammed Ali and pop megastar, Prince. They’ve left their legacy, for us, the fans, friends and family to remember them by, both of these men died at the age of 74 and 57.

Every single one of these celebri-ties have meant something to someone in the world, whether it’s just your favourite news lady, whether they’ve inspired you through their music or even there quotes that they always say and has even motivated us as fans to change the way we see things or a change about ourselves.

AFTER 6 years of the Syrian conflict, and the world watching as numerous factions fight for a land engulfed by war, Syria has been left in ruins.

At the heart of it all Aleppo, once a great historic city and the economic hub for Syria, has been a battle ground since the Arab spring protests in 2011.

The fighting mainly happened during 2012 and a year later the rebels were able to surround the pro-govern-ment areas when fighting in Aleppo. The rebels were able to push the regime into western Aleppo creating a mini siege from the northern country-side as well as the Eastern Aleppo part of the city.

The rebel held parts of the city were reported being mainly dominated by “Islamist” fighters. Which appar-ently is the reason why rebel held areas had short skirmishes which caused problems.

On the other hand Assad’s regime looked as if they were going to lose Aleppo. Assad’s forces were being accused of many crimes as well as breaching many planned ceasefires.

Russia and Turkey agreed upon a deal that civilians and fighters would be evacuated to Idlib. However this deal was short lived and civilians were told to go back and indiscriminate

bombings began to kill more people.Another deal was made that civil-

ians and fighters would be evacuated to Idlib the last rebel stronghold. The deal was also made that Shia residents move to Fu’aa a known Assad strong-hold near Idlib.

Assad’s forces took over Aleppo city and hailed the biggest victory which could end the war.
