A SERVICE FOR THE WORSHIP OF GOD
29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 17, 2010 - 11:00 AM
All who are able are invited to stand Chiming of the Trinity The three bells rung at the beginning of the service represent the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As the bells ring, let us gather quietly, prayerfully reflecting on the majesty of God in our lives.
Prelude The King of Love My Shepherd Is David Cherwien Welcome Minute for Mission Amy Saylors
To Praise the Living God Introit As the Deer Pants for the Water Martin Nystrom Call to Worship from Psalm 119 Jennifer Bryan, Liturgist Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all day long. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is always with me.
I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your decrees are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.
I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. I do not turn away from your ordinances, for you have taught me.
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to observe your righteous ordinances.
Hymn 461 God Is Here! ABBOT'S LEIGH
To Confess Our Sins and Receive Forgiveness Call to Confession Prayer of Confession Patient God, we have come again. We have come again because the burden of sin is
heavy, and we can't bear it alone. We have come again because we long to hear news
that is good. We have come again because there is no one else to help. Hear our cries.
Receive our prayers. Heal our hurts. Remind us that we always have a place to come,
that we always have a God compassionate to care, and powerful enough to redeem.
Amen Silent Reflection and Personal Confession Response Hymn #574 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us Kyrie

To Respond in Faith Affirmation of Faith from Colossians 1:15-20 Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him all
things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether
thrones or dominions or rulers or powers--all things have been created through him
and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is
the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so
that he might come to have first place in everything. For in him all the fullness of God
was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all
things, whether on earth or in heaven by making peace through the blood of his cross.

I can feel his mighty power and his grace.
I can hear the brush of angel's wings, I see glory on each face;
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.
