Top five energy users in your homeA starting point for savings

While most homeowners would like to be more energy effi-

cient and save money, often it feels overwhelming because many people don’t know where to start. How can the average family use less energy, lower their utility bill and still meet their daily energy needs? To help jumpstart your effort, it is useful to know what the top energy users are in your home. With this knowledge, you can choose a path that works best for your family. Clean the filters of your HVAC system to cut costs from five to 15 percent.

Clean the coils around your elec-tric baseboard heater to maintain maximum efficiency.

VeriFone now available at cooperative

Your cooperative recently installed a VeriFone device (pictured right) at its headquarters

in Shelbyville. When paying a bill at the office with a credit or debit card, members now use this device at the front counter. The VeriFone works like the card-swipe machines found at most retail and grocery stores. This change has been implemented due to security standards now required by the Credit Card Industry. Using this device keeps your credit card information safe and secure and is just another way your cooperative is looking out for you.

Save energy and money by lowering your water heater thermostat to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This will also slow mineral buildup and corrosion in your water heater and pipes.
