Istation: Fidelity of Use

➢Develop an Assessment Schedule for Classes (Schedule assessments early each month)

➢ISIP Monthly Administration = Consistent Data (Teachers need to Monitor during the assessment each month.)

It is important for the students to be monitored during the assessment each month. Students need to do their best on the ISIP to ensure they are placed in their correct instructional path based on how they responded on the assessment.

Istation: Fidelity of Use

➢Interactive Instruction / Utilize the Recommended Usage Times for Tiers

This slide shows where the Usage Criteria for each Tier, in Reading and Math, can be found on the website….on the Homepage, in the Toolbox. Use the minutes in the Supplemental Category for English Reading. The minutes are the same for English and Spanish Reading. You can find the Math minutes for all grade levels at this location also.

Tier 1

Tier 2

Tier 3

Students use the program for 30 or more minutes per week.

Students use the program for 60 or more minutes per week.

Students use the program for 90 or more minutes per week.

Recommended Minimum Usage

Istation Reading

This is the recommended minimum usage for Reading in English or Spanish. The minutes per week are the same for both languages. The Istation research and our reports are based on fidelity to the recommended minutes. Your campus may need to be creative in figuring out a way to provide extra minutes for your Tier 2 and Tier 3 students. Teachers may need to set up a rotation in their classrooms, schedule an extra time in the computer lab, take advantage of Home when students have access, provide a before school computer lab time, etc.

Istation's Indicators of Progress(ISIP™)

• Computer Adaptive (CAT) assessment designed to find each student’s Zone of Proximal Development*

• Highly rated by National Center on Response to Intervention (NCRTI)

• Ongoing studies are conducted for… ✓Validity and Reliability Measures✓Periodic Re-norming

What Is ISIP?

*Developed by Lev Vygotsky

• Reading with ISIP and Lectura con ISIP are computer adaptive. A computer adaptive assessment is designed to adjust its level of question difficulty based on the responses provided by the students. It is matching the knowledge and ability of the test taker.

• Math with ISIP is computer adaptive within the grade level.

• Several universities, in partnership with Istation, conduct ongoing research on the assessment, the program, and the data. Istation is committed to maintaining the validity and reliability of its product, and periodically re-norms every 3-5 years.

Once students take the ISIP (Reading, Spanish, or Math), they are

immediately placed into Tiers based on their performance on the ISIP

assessment. The Tiers are color-coded for easy recognition. Tier 1 students

are performing at or above grade level, Tier 2 students are moderately

below grade level and in need of intervention, and Tier 3 students could be

as much as one to two grade levels below their grade level and in need of

intervention. The students that are at the 10th percentile or lower are

considered Critical Intervention and will be highlighted in an orange color

on our reports. They are seriously below grade level and in need of intensive

intervention.

Istation Home• Istation Home allows students to practice needed skills at home.

• From the Istation Website, teachers can create a parent letter to send home with directions for student login and Parent Portal.

• Teachers can also create Assignments for students to complete at home.

• Parent Portal allows parents to see reports and instructional materials for their child.

• Assessments are NEVER given at home.

Students continue working in their instructional path at Home…picking up where they left off at school. This is one way to supplement the extra minutes that are needed weekly for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students. We don’t encourage over usage at home…For example, we would not want to see Tier 1 students with 400 minutes for the week, but we do encourage the Tier 2 and Tier 3 students to use Home practice to get their 60 or 90 minutes in per week.
