    IN THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA

    TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE - FIRST SESSION

    A RESOLUTION

    Urging the Governor to designate a location for a special session of the Twenty-Ninth1

    Alaska State Legislature, if called after adjournment of the First Regular Session of the2

    Twenty-Ninth Alaska State Legislature, that is in a community on the state's road3

    system.4

    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:5

    WHEREAS there is a strong possibility of a special session following adjournment of6

    the First Regular Session of the Twenty-Ninth Alaska State Legislature; and7

    WHEREAS structural and seismic retrofitting and other life and safety repairs are8

    ongoing at the capitol in Juneau; and9

    WHEREAS the majority of the state's population, along with the majority of10

    legislators and staff, resides along the road system;11

    BE IT RESOLVEDthat the Alaska State Legislature supports a location for a special12

    session of the Twenty-Ninth Alaska State Legislature, if called after adjournment of the First13

    Regular Session of the Twenty-Ninth Alaska State Legislature, that is the least costly and14

    most accessible location; and be it15

    FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature urges the Governor to1

    designate a location for a special session of the Twenty-Ninth Alaska State Legislature, if2

    called after the adjournment of the First Regular Session of the Twenty-Ninth Alaska State3

    Legislature, that is in a community on the state's road system with safe and adequate facilities4

    to accommodate a special legislative session of up to 30 days.5
