The switchgear division has a strategicalliance with European switchgearmanufacturer, Felten and Gilleaume.

Clipsal Controlgear, formed in 1990as a joint venture with leading Euro-pean contactor manufacturer Lovato,was the first Australian operation todesign and manufacture contactors.

Gerard Industries has been amanufacturer of hazardous locationequipment for over 50 years, and in1994 this area was expanded furtherwith the establishment of Clipsal Ex.Based in Sydney, Clipsal Ex is a jointventure with R. Stahl, Europe’s lead-ing manufacturer of Ex equipment.Clipsal Ex provides the Australianand Asia Pacific region with acomprehensive range of electricalaccessories for hazardous locations.

Total modularity is a feature ofClipsal Industrial products. Thisoffers important benefits to theinstaller and end user, enablingproducts to be mixed and matchedso that installations can be easilyupgraded or expanded in the future.

‘Specials’ are also part of the serviceprovided to Clipsal customers. TheClipsal Industrial products’ designteam specialises in customising prod-ucts for specific requirements and acomplete backup service ensurescontinued support to customers.

Officially opened on 20 January,1999, this huge sugar mill, locatedin the Nghe An Province of CentralVietnam, is the result of a joint venture.

The factory has a daily crushingcapacity of over 6000 tonnes ofsugar cane and was set up to meetincreasing domestic demand and toassist the Government of Vietnam inits plan of increased self sufficiencyearly in the new millennium.

Within the sugar mill itself, Australianswitchboard builder Harwal installed$2,000,000 worth of switchboards,containing $250,000 worth of Clipsalproducts for protection of equipmentand workers within the plant. Theseincluded 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 Series prod-ucts, plus Neutral and Earth Bars.

This multi recreational sports centreincorporates basketball, volleyballand full gymnasium facilities, plusaerobic rooms, a swimming pool anda football oval.

Clipsal was selected for the com-plete electrical package due to itsproven reliability in Australian condi-tions, and extensive local support.

Switchboard builder Price Trandosinstalled Clipsal Air Circuit Breakers,MCBs and Contactors within themain switchboard. DistributionBoards also contain Clipsal MCBsand accessories. All electricalservices, including lighting, arecontrolled by Clipsal’s C-Bus EnergyManagement System.

The new Royal Agricultural Society(RAS) Showgrounds, located next toStadium Australia in Homebush Bay,was recently completed at a cost of$388 million. Consisting of 12pavilions and exhibition areas, aswell as offices and a railway station,the site will be used for a range ofsports, media and administrationfunctions during the Sydney 2000Olympic Games.

After the Olympic Games, theShowgrounds will be used as avenue for major exhibitions and theAnnual Sydney Easter Show.

In total, $500,000 worth of Clipsaland Pierlite accessories have beenincorporated into the project.

Clipsal 56 Series Industrial Switch-gear was specified for its superiorweatherprotected qualities. Theseproducts have been tested for pro-tection against ingress of water anddust to IP56 and in many cases act-ually exceeds this level of protection.Impact resistant mouldings are UVstabilised for extra long life outdoors.

All switches in the range have beenequipped with facilities for doublepadlocking. When plugs are removedfrom outlets, the socket flap automat-ically locks into place, preventingdust or water from entering.

The Mitsubishi Motors Head Officeand Manufacturing Centre occupiesmost of the Adelaide suburb ofClovelly Park.

It is within this massive factorycomplex that one of Australia’s mostpopular family cars, the MitsubishiMagna, is produced. In a number oflocations here you will also findClipsal Industrial products.

In the engine foundry, 5 Series LoadBreak Switches and 56 Series MotorIsolating Switches were selecteddue to their dust resistance.

Other areas of the plant incorporate6 Series Contactors for controlpanels, 7 Series Rotary Cam Switchesand 56 Series DOL Starters for safe,reliable equipment operation. Extraheavy duty 3PX Series Cast Alumin-ium Sockets and Plugs are used tooperate equipment in some of theplant’s more demanding locations.

The Sea-Land Container Terminal inAdelaide is Australia’s only dedicated,purpose built intermodal port.
