The performance of the major producers at the half yearly stage provides an important indication of the potential annual profit or loss by highlighting successful sales and their overall effect on profit. It is becoming difficult to keep track of all the new products that are offered each month. However, it is not often that a new coating technology is revealed, for the emphasis is mainly on new additives that provide added value features to existing liquid coating products. The use of additives in powder coatings is almost restricted to organic/inorganic composites, and the suppliers of additives should be aware that powder manufacturers would generally prefer to purchase these items instead of producing them in-house. The future for powder coatings growth is not threatened by any recent trends, nor the blustering forecasts of the liquid coating advocates.
