A UNIQUE VENUE Hamswell House is a historic manor house on its own estate. It has an orangery

and picturesque walled gardens and is surrounded by stunning countryside. It is a

private estate not a hotel, a golf club or a corporate events venue and that is what

makes it so different.

When you hold your ceremony and wedding reception at Hamswell, you will have

exclusive use of the orangery and the grounds for the day and evening to share

with your guests. We do not hold two marquee wedding receptions on the same

weekend, so you can decorate and personalise the custom-built marquee the day

before to make it truly yours.

At Hamswell we are lucky to have assembled a group of carefully chosen

professionals who will assist you at every stage of the planning process.

The cost of hiring the venue for the day on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and bank

holidays is £3500 up to 150, £3850 up to 200 and £4200 up to 240. If the ceremony is also being held here, we charge a supplement of £500. Midweek weddings are subject to a £750 discount on the above rates.

THE CEREMONY You can hold the Ceremony inside the beautiful 18th Century Orangery with its

Cotswold stone roof and huge arch windows. The Orangery can seat 40 inside.

Any additional guests can watch and listen to the short ceremony from outside

on the lawn.

The couple must book a Registrar to attend the Ceremony. This should be done as

early as possible up to a year in advance through registrationservice@southglos.

gov.uk or on 01454 863140. The Registrar will make a charge for conducting the

Ceremony.

THE DRINKS RECEPTION

Following the service, you can join your guests for a celebratory drink on the

terrace and enjoy the stunning rural views over the Hamswell Valley with the

Westbury White Horse in the distance.

The gardens and the backdrop of the house make the perfect setting for your

wedding photographs. You and your guests are free to explore the walled gardens,

pergola and terraced herb garden.

If there is a risk of showers, the marquee company can erect a large awning on the

lawn so your guests can enjoy the glorious gardens without getting wet.

CATERING

If none of these caterers can meet your requirements, you can use one of your own

choosing for an additional charge of £350.

THE MARQUEEA marquee in the garden of a historic manor house is a wonderfully romantic

setting for your wedding breakfast.

To discuss your requirements contact Henry at Bath Marquees www.bathmarquees.co.uk tel: 01225 851015 / 07888 841517. He will meet you on site if you wish. The

maximum that can be comfortably accommodated for a sit down meal is about 240.

Bath Marquees will erect it for you. The cost of this varies depending on your individual requirements from about £4000 + VAT and is in addition to the venue hire. They will also organize a luxury toilet trailer.

We have three excellent caterers working at Hamswell. Each of them has a wedding planner with whom you can discuss possible menus, table settings and your plans for the day. They all o�er tastings. Prices are usually quoted to include table linens, cutlery and waiting sta� as well as the food and are from about £35+ VAT per head for a three course sit down meal, less for a hog or lamb roast.

DRINKYou may bring your own wine and champagne for the wedding breakfast provided

that you arrange this with the caterer beforehand. We do not charge corkage. This

is in stark contrast with most venues where the high mark-ups on the drink could

easily add thousands of pounds to the cost of the day. This is another major reason

why couples prefer to come to Hamswell.

PAY BARSIf you would like the caterers to run a pay bar, please give us two months notice.

MUSICYou are free to book your own DJ or band for an evening party. A mains power

supply is provided. We do ask for the music to stop at 12 p.m. and the guests to

depart by 1 a.m.

ACCOMMODATION

A wide range of accommodation is all price ranges is available in the immediate

area. We can provide a list. We do not provide accommodation in the house.

When you have decided on a date, we will ask for a deposit of 50% of the venue

charge to reserve it for you.
