A Two-Week AICTE and TEQIP-III Funded FDP on
“Synthesis and Characterization of Nanomaterials”
4th-16th November 2019
Organized by
Prof. K. Venkateswara Rao Center for Nano Science and Technology
Institute of Science and Technology,
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Telangana, India
A Two-Week AICTE & TEQIP -FDP on “Synthesis and Characterization of Nanomaterials-2019”
About IST, JNTU Hyderabad
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological
University, Hyderabad, was
established on 2nd October 1972 by
the Legislature of the State of
Andhra Pradesh as the first
Technological University in the
country. After 36 years of
existence it was restructured into 4
different Universities by the Government vide Government Ordinance No.30 dated September
2008 and this new University has been designated as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University
Hyderabad (JNTUH). It has been in the forefront for the past 44 years in providing qualitative
technological education and situated in a sprawling 89-acre campus at Kukatpally, Hyderabad. It
has now Four Constituent Engineering Colleges and 15 other constituent units in Hyderabad
campus.
In 1989 Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University established a number of Centers for
Excellence to form a strong academic nucleus. They started functioning from 1991 under the
Institute of Science and Technology (IST). IST was located in the heart of the twin cities of
Hyderabad & Secunderabad. Now being located in the Campus which is also the Head quarters of
JNT University, IST enjoys certain facilities such as any Technological up gradation within
J.N.T.U. starts with IST. The location of the campus provides an excellent academic environment
and promotes learning. Centre for Biotechnology Centre for Environment, Centre for Nano science
and Technology, Centre for Pharmaceutical sciences, Centre for Spatial Information Technology,
Centre for Water Resources are the constituent units of the institution. The basic thrust of these
Centers is in the emerging areas of research and education in the fields of Engineering, Technology
and Applied Sciences of interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary character.
About the Centre for Nano Science and Technology
The Centre for Nano Science and Technology was established in June 2007 with main focus on
teaching and research in the field of Nano Technology under the support of DST-Nanomission.
The centre is funded by TEQIP-II and TEQIP-III. It has been accredited by NBA. The PG course
lays emphasis on applications of Technology to meet the market demands. It is uniquely placed in
the university’s landscape. The centre has been offering M. Tech degree in Nanotechnology (NT)
The centre is undertaking research work in the areas of Nano materials and Composites, Energy,
Sensors, Agriculture, Electronic, Computer, Bio–medical & Environmental Applications. The
centre has developed a good interaction/ Collaborations with the various industries.
