From Father John… Dear Parishioners,
After consulting with parishioners in all the parishes in our cluster via survey of Saturday evening mass attendees, the consensus that the most preferred time for the Saturday mass to be 4:30pm at St Joseph’s. I thank all who were part of the discussion. A full list of the mass times beginning the weekend of July 2nd/3rd is as follows:

Mass Cards Mass Cards are gifts of love & prayer to honor the life and love of a dear one through the celebration of the Eucharist. They are a wonderful way to show your friendship to someone who is celebrating a birthday, anniversary, marriage or going through a difficult time in their life, or serving our country. Give the gift of prayer in times of joy & in times of suffering. The offering is $5. Mass cards may be obtained at the parish offices during office hours.

Fortnight for Freedom
June 21-July 4 Fortnight for Freedom National Opening Mass

FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM
The Catholic Church in the United States will observe a Fortnight
for Freedom, June 21-July 4. The Fortnight is a time for prayer,
education, and action to support and defend religious freedom in
our Nation and around the world. This year’s Fortnight will
celebrate past and present “witnesses to religious freedom.” The
Archdiocese of Baltimore will host events to mark the Fortnight,
beginning with the nationally-televised national opening Mass,
celebrated by Archbishop William E. Lori, at the Baltimore
Basilica on June 21st at 7pm. Relics of St. Thomas More and St.
John Fisher will be on display during and after the Mass for
veneration. More information about the Mass and about the other
events taking place in the Archdiocese can be found at
www.archbalt.org

Tuition Scholarships
The Maryland State Legislature passed Maryland’s first ever
school choice measure during the 2016 legislative session.
The program, entitled Broadening Options and Opportunities
for Students Today Program or BOOST, will provide $5
million in nonpublic school scholarships for qualifying
students in the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. Current
families who have been struggling to pay tuition or families
who have not been able to afford to send their children to St.
Mary Catholic School may be eligible for a BOOST
scholarship. Please check bulletin insert for eligibility
guidelines. The online application is now open and can be
found at http://www.marylandpublicschools.org/boost/application.html.
The application deadline is July 11, 2016

In Barnyard Roundup VBS, children learn that Jesus gathers us together! They’ll look into the Bible, God’s Holy Word, and explore five Bible accounts where Jesus graciously gathers us together to be with Him with His abundant provision and saving
protection, now and forever.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.
Ages 4 thru 6th Grade Cost: 1 child $15 – each additional child $5
Volunteer Youth Leaders and Adults are needed.

Fried chicken will be available and donations may be made towards the
cost of it. Please plan to bring side dishes or desserts to share with other parishioners. Please supply your own plates, napkins, drinks, and
utensils. Games will be available for children. A sign-up sheet for side dishes/desserts will be in the atrium by July 2nd. Looking forward to
seeing everyone there this year!

Grocery Gift Cards Grocery gift cards are available in the Parish offices. St. Augustine has Martins cards and St. James has
Weis Market as well as Martins cards. Our churches receive 5% cash back of all the cards sold. The cards
are available in $25, $50, and $100 increments. Help us give back to our local community and families in need.
“Is it possible that God Directly heals people? Does
it really happen?” These are the words that begin
Chapter 1 in a book on Healing by Francis MacNutt,
leader of Christian Healing Ministries. Father
MacNutt has several years of experience worldwide
with successful healing prayer. We would like to
gather a group here at St James to study this book
and be able to pray for those who are in need of
healing. Anyone interested in pursuing this, please
contact Sara Anderson, (301)733.7878, or at
[email protected]. We’ll try to find a
convenient time to meet together.
ST JAMES GREETERS NEEDED! We are inviting each and every person willing to extend
some hospitality to serve as greeters. Please sign-up for
at least one mass and be a Greeter. It is our job to make
our newest parishioners, or visiting guests feel welcome,
and to show them what a family we have at St. James.

Altar Flowers † Glorify God and honor a loved one by donating altar flowers. You can choose any weekend and honor anyone you
choose, living or deceased. Those you designate will have their name placed in the bulletin and the altar will be beautiful with your gift.
