CWF APPRECIATION AND FUND RAISER DINNER

The Charleston Wesley Foundation, our conference’s campus ministry organization, will be hosting a dinner at Hibben UMC on Saturday, February 18 at 6:00pm to show our appreciation for individual and church contri-butions in the past and to ask for continued support in 2017. There is currently one full time pastor and one part time pastor ministering to some 125 students at The Citadel, MUSC, Charleston Southern University and the College of Charleston and our desire is to expand this effort. Our program receives very little financial support from our conference and is therefore, very dependent on contributions from churches and individuals. JWUMC has for years been a strong supporter of this work and will be in the future. We look forward to having a large number of our members at this dinner as has been the case in the past. If you would like to attend please con-tact Hank Wilson (843-571-1693 or [email protected]) or Judy Peper.

2017-18 Registration Forms are available on our webpage (jwumchurch.org/dayschool). If you would like to schedule a tour of the Day School, please call Susan at the school office at 843.766.3396. We still have room this school year in our 3s and 4s classes. If you know of someone looking to place their 3 or 4 year old, please let them know they are welcome at the Day School!

Thank you for sponsoring a HALOS child in December! We started out with 125 children who needed to be spon-sored and asked HALOS if we could help with 7 more for a total of 132 children. Your generous spirit never ceases to amaze me, John Wesley! Thank you for making the holidays a bit brighter for our lowcountry children.

On February 14, 2017 we will view the sequel “The Return to the Hiding Place”, the untold true story of Corrie Ten Boom’s student army. Anyone 55+ is invited to join us.

The John Wesley Youth Ministry is looking forward to 2017. We hope to bring more youth in the Charleston area to know about God’s love for them. We hope to do this though our core values. Which are: • Our faith in Christ is the heart of our tribe. We experience it as compassion, empathy, humility, and joy. • Our environment is a sanctuary. We claim it as a peace-ful place of trust, protection, and rest. • Our doors are open; all are welcome to join. Our shared experiences build Christian relationships. • As humble Disciples of Christ, we provide opportunities for servant leadership that transform the world. • As a group, we will graciously care for each other, re-specting and honoring the personal struggles/trials of the individual. • We will prepare to answer Christ's call on our lives by actively participating in the spiritual disciplines. As you pray for the Youth Ministry in the coming year challenge yourself to find ways that you can help us meet our goal of reaching new youth for Christ.
