A WORLD OF IDEAS:SEE ALL THERE IS TO KNOW www.dk.com
CHILDREN Just Like Me
Prompt students to fill out their own Children Just Like Me profile page and share it with the class.
Finally, bring in flags and other colourful decorations to make it feel like a true celebration.
Ask students to share a cultural dance, song, story or other tradition with the class. Andre plays the didgeridoo, a traditional Aboriginal instrument, and Shigo is learning to make traditional Maasai bead jewelry.
Encourage students to dress in traditional garments. Murk wears a traditional salwar kameez with a scarf covering her hair, and Bassma wears a dress called a kaftan for special events.
Arrange a potluck lunch. Ask students to bring an ethnic food that represents their culture. Jack’s family enjoys Irish stew, and Shaowei’s family enjoys choi sum.
