The superiority of our equipment comes from a deep understanding of design, materials and components. System Healthcare feedback from operating plant continually adds to our pool of knowledge of real life conditions and performance.

PROVEN EXPERIENCE

The Water Treatment ExpertIn Upstream Oil & Gas

A FULL SERVICE TURNKEY SOLUTION

INJECTION WATERSulphate Removal - The World Leader

With over 110 years of designing and building water treatment and desalination plants, VWS Westgarth has an impressive track record of water treatment processes. As part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, we are able to utilise the specialist R&D and process abilities of the world's largest water treatment company, providing local focus backed by global presence.

When seawater containing sulphates is injected into subsea wells to enhance oil recovery, scaling of the well formation can occur, as the sulphate in the seawater reacts with barium and strontium in the crude oil.

In 1993, VWS Westgarth produced the world’s first commercial sulphate reduction package. Continuous research and development programmes ensure that we remain world leaders in this field, with more installations than any other supplier.

PRODUCED WATER

Produced water is not a consistent substance. Both the physical and chemical properties of produced water vary widely. For this reason, no two treatment plants are the same and a wide range of equipment can be involved, depending to a large extent on the final disposal route.

VWS Westgarth will design, build and support the specific solution necessary to achieve the required disposal/re-use parameters, bringing together many years experience of both equipment manufacture and site installation.

Problems with chemical squeeze technologyChemical squeeze technology is often used to remove sulphate scale. However this can:> Cause loss of production during chemical

injection

> Damage the environment

> Have high long term OPEX costs

> Be impractical on subsea wellhead networks

A Preferred Solution to oilfield scalingMembrane based sulphate reduction plants are now the preferred solution to scaling problems:> Maximises production by preventing scale

formation

> Environmentally friendly

> Removes chemical squeeze, thus reducing downtime

A complete turnkey produced water treatment plant can comprise of a number of individual processes:> Oil/water plate separators> De-oiling hydrocyclones> De-sanding hydrocyclones> Degassing plant> Induced Gas flotation units> Compact flotation units> Nutshell filters> Dual media filters> Ultrafiltration with ceramic membranes> BTEX/dissolved hydrocarbon removal by MPPE

> INJECTION WATER> PRODUCED WATER> SYSTEM HEALTHCARE

Complimentary systemsVWS Westgarth has a flexible, creative approach to problem solving. This has led to the development of technologies to complement our core processes such as Seawater Reverse Osmosis for low chloride water supply.

Washwater, potable and service water systems are also available, tailor made to integrate with the main process plant.

Research & DevelopmentAs part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, VWS Westgarth is able to utilise the specialist R&D and process abilities of the world's largest water treatment company.

In addition, our own in-house R&D specialists are constantly developing ideas and designs and benefitting from experience and data from our System Healthcare operations.
