lo Since the publication of the first edition of the Lists of National Laws and Regulations on Civil Aviation (DOCo 2146~ AT/141~ 15/10/46), the Legal Studies Section has received from Member States and from other sources (1) additional texts of laws and regulationso Therefore it .has been possible to prepare for the information of the State Representatives to the First Assem~~y a second e~ition of the _?ocumento

2o · - The · present edition contains only a chronological list of the laws and regulations of the countries se.t out in alphabetical ordero The important documentation received on the British Co~onies~ Protectorates and Mandated Territories has been listed immediately after the United Kingdomo

3o It was not considered useful to prepare a list by subject as was done in the first edition for the following reasons~

(a) additional answers are expected soon from the States which have not yet furnished up=to=date lists~ and therefore some texts. in this present edition may prove to be obsolete like many of those listed in the first edition'

(b) in some countries the whole system of legis~ lation concerning civil aviation is being changed and those,countries will in time be able to supply up=to=date texts7 where new legislation is in the course of pre= paration~ appropriate fo·o'tnotes have been made for the countries concernedo

When the information on laws and regulations in for-o ce seems to be sufficiently complete 9 a comprehensive list by subject will be prepared containing more details than were set forth in the first editiono
