  • Significance of the 1st UIC Asia CCS WorkshopProgress Global standardization of ERTMS was proposed to Executive Board held in March 2007, New Delhi.

Mr. Ishida opposed the proposed agenda, because- the technical specifications of various technologies, GSM-R being a typical example, are not specified.

    - it is not clear how we or UIC will try to cope with the development of the technology, which is constantly advancing.

CCS workshop held in June 2007 at UIC headquarters. - workshop with the signalling experts all over the world.

Theme - The global application of signalling technology.- To discuss the direction to head for the goal. - To decide the vision for the future.

Direction- CCS is a fundamental system of railways, and we are required to havenot only a short-term but also a long-term perspective like 20-30 years ahead.

    - We should consider how we stimulate the development of signalling technology allover the world, not simply consider the expansion of ERTMS.

    - Following this workshop, the conference on the same theme will be held in Istanbul, October 2008.

Session2 State of the art technology for control command and signalling

  • Special Lecture by CER Dr.Libor LochmanOverview of ETCS Level 3 state-of-the-art in Europe and an application proposal at Japanese Rail system

CER is considering CCS from a business based perspective. The purpose of the introduction of CCS is the cost reduction

and efficient performance in train operation. ETCS Level 3 is most effective. There are no trains nor railway lines that have adopted

ETCS Level 3 now. The system, called REGIONAL equivalent to ETCS Level 3

will be introduced on West Dalama Line in Sweden in 2009. It is applicable to the Japanese Shinkansen. Results similar to Europe will be expected for the Shinkansen.

  • Session4 Discussion :

For the future development of control

    command and signalling technology

  • Participants of 1st UIC Asia CCS Workshop with UIC CCS group of experts, with regards to the control command and signalling systems, understand and respect unique creative ideas, various thoughts handed down from the previous generations and the regional reality and customer needs which are reflected in the systems.

The participants will support technological innovations around the world.

"Mission of the UIC Asia Regional Projects"

    1

  • Participants of 1st UIC Asia CCS Workshop with UIC CCS group of experts will, for the time being, concentrate and focus on the development, growth and standardisation of the systems whose basic functions will be the train location and detection with radio & on-board equipment.

The participants agree to meet at least once a year and exchange information on their achievements.

    2

"Mission of the UIC Asia Regional Projects"

  • The UIC Asia CCS Workshop shall be held when UIC CCS group of experts are present.

The achievements of the UIC Asia CCS Workshop will be reported, periodically in the UIC TM & TCS conferences.

(The Chairman of this workshop will report the content of this workshop to 1st UIC TM & TCS Conference that will be held at Istanbul in Turkey on October 15-17 2008).
