Mariano Arias-Diez is an architect founder and director of a10studio, an architecture office with a mobile loca-tion between Mexico (Los Cabos/DF) and Spain (Barcelona).

Mariano studied architecture in Mexico City, Barcelona, London & New York City. He holds a Masters in Advanced Architecture from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia "IaaC" (Spain). He has collaborated with the offices of Willy Muller Architects and Vicente Guallart Architects in Barcelona, Sadar Vuga Architects in Slovenia, and Michel Rojkind and Celula Arquitectura in Mexico. In 2006, Mariano co-founded the international research group LaN (live architecture network). He has been guest tutor and lecturer at the IaaC in Barcelona, Montana State University, Nuevo Mundo University (Mexico City) and the UMSNH (Morelia, Mexico). His work has been shown in magazines and exhibitions in NY, Mexico, The Netherlands, Spain, Croatia and Slovenia. Currently, besides running a10studio -his own professional practice-, he writes for architecture and design magazines in Mexico and is co-founder of the collective CAPA, a think-tank created to propose new alternatives for the future sustainable development of the Los Cabos to La Paz area in Baja California Sur.

a10 is an architecture and design studio, its commitment to the exploration of new architectural models and programs has been translated in a "open code practice" that learns from nature and its billions of new shapes generated every second in the shape of waves, flights of birds, sounds of wind thru leaves, etc., to generate specific flexible responses to particular situations in a multiscalar panorama of projects. We love unique and singular things, as admirors of nature a10studio realize mother nature is the best designer ever,

and as such we learn from it.

The environmental aspect of our practice is always present in our work and thinking, realizing that the best solutions, materials and processes in design are always attached to an environmental conscious as also innovative thinking. Mariano Arias-Diez leads the design teams at a10studio and collaborates directly with clients. His focus on materials, technology and sustainability is supported through a model of working that

combines practice, teaching and research.
