    Cellphone etiquette■Weak radio waves are emitted from cellphones at all times even if you just turn the power on.■Enjoy and safely use your cellphone without forgetting those around you.

    ●Use of cellphones is not allowed insome places.

    • Do not use cellphones while you aredriving. Doing so is both dangerousand forbidden by law.

    • Radio waves may interfere withairplane operation. Be sure to turnyour cellphone off before you boardairplanes.

    ●Consider where to use yourcellphone and be careful of howloudly you talk.

    • Do not make calls from cinemas,theaters, museums, libraries andother similar places. Turn yourcellphone off or set it to the mannermode to prevent others around youfrom being inconvenienced by theincoming ring.

    • Use your cellphone in places whereyou will not prevent others frompassing through.

    • Move to areas where you will notcause others inconvenience on trainsor in hotel lobbies.

    • Take care not to talk too loudly duringconversations.

    • Get other people's permission beforeyou start taking photos with thecellphone's camera.

    ●Radio waves from cellphones mayadversely influence medicalapparatus and equipment.

    • Some people close to you in busyplaces such as crowded trains may beusing a pacemaker. Turn yourcellphone off in such places.

    • Abide by the instructions of hospitalsand other medical institutions where itis forbidden to use or carry cellphones.

    Charging the battery packBefore you use your cellphone, first assemble the desktop holder and charge the batterypack (inside the battery panel).

    33 Fold the A1301S with the battery pack attached as shown in thefigure, then insert it into the desktop holder.

    Be sure to fold the A1301S when you charge it. Charging will not start if the A1301S isopened out.When removing the A1301S from the desktop holder, hold the desktop holder firmly andremove the A1301S.

    Extending the antennaHold the tip of the antenna, and extend the antenna until you hear itclick into place.

    If the antenna is not fully extended, reception sensitivity will beworse as the antenna is unstable.Radio waves can be received and sent more easily if theantenna is extended vertically to the ground.

    on the right is the number of unread mails.

    Select the mail to read from the Inbox by j and p.

    Filtering spam serviceThe mail filter function allows you to block spam or set your A1301S to receive only specified mail.You can also block mail indicated as "未承諾広告※ " that contains lots of spam.Follow the procedure below to block spam.

    q Press q in the standby display, and select "Settings" → "Etc. setting" byj and p.

    w Select "Yes" by j and p. Select "3 メールフィルター ."The mail filter function contains the following functions.

    • " 未承諾広告フィルター ": To block spam• " アドレスフィルター ": " 指定拒否設定 " not to receive specified mail

    " 指定受信設定 " to receive only specified mailThis " アドレスフィルター " function filters e-mail from a spammer who pretends to be auser of a cellphone or PHS.

    Using C-mailC-mail is a service that allows you to exchange mail with other au cellphones that supportC-mail using cellphone numbers. You can send mail comprising up to 50 double bytecharacters by C-mail.

    You can send C-mail to au cellphones.

    Just input a message and select the other party's cellphone number.

    You can use C-mail without having to make any special applications in the metropolitanarea or the Chubu District. Users contracted in other areas must apply separately to usethe C-mail service.

    As a part of spam countermeasures (implemented April, 2003), C-mail cannot be sentwith "184+send" (without notifying the other party of your caller ID).

    As a part of spam C-mail countermeasures (implemented June 23, 2003), mail groupservice was stopped. Transmission of group mail can no longer be done.
