3. provide a detailed explanation about such gifts both received and presented by the

Honourable prime Minister of lndia during his above mentioned international

diplomatic visits and its significance in Strengthening the bilateral relation of the two

countries

4. provide the information on the amount of Rupees spent by the Government of lndia

for such gifts presented by the Honourable Prime Minister of lndia to the visiting

nations during his above mentioned international diplomatic visits'

3. The following is the response of the CPIO:

2,3 &4. ln this connection, this is to state that the Prime Minister of lndia

piesents gifts, as per the laid down norms, to various foreign dignitaries..lnformation

sought Ui you relates to, among other things, the type/cost of the,gifts presented

Our'ilg the period mentioned above. lt is true that the procurement of gifts is being met

from -budgetary grants but the revelation of the information sought would have

unintended effecti.on the foreign relations and that any critical analysis/scrutiny and

comparison between quantum ind value of the gifts would be totally undesirable and

*ouid defeat the very purpose of generating goodwill between the nations. However,

disclosure of this information may prejudicially affect lndia's relations with the

concerned foreign State. Exemption is therefore, sought under section 8(1) (a) of the

RTI act 2005, wherein no such information as may prejudicially affect lndia's relations

with a foreign State need be disclosed.
