Help the Earth
®®
Use this card with the book "Help the Earth". Take as long as you child needs to learn the skills. You may need to
model the language multiple times for them to learn it. By modeling the language, you are motivating your child to
learn. Try and talk about th ings that go throughout your day to ensure that the vocabulary is learned.
Steps 1. Use the word "help" during a cooking activity (sample recipes can be printed below) when you would like your
child to assist you. Model the word on their device. Encourage them to say the word "help" when they need
assistance as well.
2. Read the book "Help the Earth." Encourage your child to find the word "help" as it appears in the story. Model the
word if your child can't find it. Discuss what it means to "help" someone or something.
3. Help your child make cards for someone around the neighborhood. They can make one for the mailman,
neighborhood or garbage man. Have them deliver the card and say "thank you" and "help" with their device.

Instructions Print and make copies of this card to give to people working o r interacting with your child. Ask them to help w ith the
target goal by asking some simple questions. The more your ch ild uses their device in different settings, the bette r
communicator they w ill be. Fill in the blanks w ith your ch ild's name. Keep a copy of the book w ith your child to use
during free time.
1. Model the use of the words "please· and "thank you" throughout the day. Gently remind ___ when it would
