WHAT IS AADHAAR
• Aadhaar is a 12 digit individual identification number
• Collection of basic demographic information and biometric
information
• Enables identification of an individual
• All Residents including Children get Numbers
• Including infants who are resident in India
• Each individual will be given a unique ID number

WHY AADHAR
• To clean up existing databases, to remove duplicates and fakes
• Universal identity infrastructure over the registrars and agencies across the country
• An identity proof even for poor and under-privileged population
• Offer online authentication services that can be used across India (KYC)

REPORT FROM PARLIAMENT STANDING COMMITTEE OF FINANCE
• There is no feasibility study of the project• The project was approved in haste• The system has far-reaching consequences for national
security• The project is directionless with no clarity of purpose• It is built on unreliable and untested technology• Project would becomes futile in case the project does not
continue beyond the present number of 200 million enrolments

Looking at the problems faced by UIDAI,
here are some of ideas collected from

MULTIPURPOSE CARD
Combine Aadhaar Card with
• Driving License
• PAN
• ESI card
• PF A/c number
• Ration card

CASH CARD
Can be used in Public transport services, i.e,
• Metro’s Rails
• Public Buses
• Indian Railways
• Min recharge of Rs.50 and Max amount of Rs.500

USED IN PUBLIC GATHERING’S
• The Aadhaar card can be used to enter in Parliament,
cricket stadiums, shopping malls and more for the purpose
of high security
• To maintain quorum in the Parliament

ONE POINT FAMILY DATA
• Linking an individual’s Aadhaar
card no. with their family
members aadhaar
• This can further be used as an
evidence in the civil courts.

SECURITY ASPECTS
• Card gets stolen / lost, only the external data and money in the card would be lost
• All others information as mentioned above would be linked through internet and data would be stored in a centralised database.
