This program provides basic to advanced education on the core competencies for students, equine veterinary assistants or veterinary technicians. Coursework is self-paced. Along with online courses, participants must show proficiency in a list of clinic skills, and they must attend an AAEVT-sanctioned continuing education event, which includes a wet lab and evaluation of horsemanship skills. The entire program can be completed within approximately six months, and those who receive their certificates of completion are recognized as AAEVT Certified Equine Veterinary Technicians/Assistants (“AEVT” or “AEVA”) depending on their current status.
