Aaron Douglas was an was an African-American painter and a major figure in the Harlem Renaissance, born on May 26, 1899.

Born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. He developed an interest in art during his

childhood and was encouraged in his pursuits by his mother.

Education: University of Nebraska, Lincoln , Topeka High School

February 3, 1979 he died at the age of 79.

Aaron Douglas, developed a style that owes much to African art.
