The Project
Transmediation: A visual response to a topic, issue or reading to social studies, science or languages arts.
Social Studies: Woman’s Rights Girls Inc. of Monroe county Girls were ages 11-14
Researching Girls Inc.
Girls Inc. of Monroe County “We work to help girls become strong, smart, and bold so that
they can tackle the challenges they face. At the same time, we work to change the world to make it a more equitable place for girls.”
Girls Inc. “…Is intentionally focused on gender equity…” and “…programs focus on educational enrichment…”
Non-for Profit after school program that has activities such as tutoring, art classes, nutrition classes, sports, reading groups, and foreign language classes.
90% of staff are volunteers

This is a girl winning a game of tug of war against three men. Women over come their struggles and can do anything they want. The girl is also wearing bloomers, like the women in the story.
Personal Reflection and Connection to Teaching Philosophy
I believe that students can learn. Art is everywhere and students can express themselves and have their voices heard through artistic work.
Art is a language. Students loved the lesson!! Changes for next time:
