Prayers for Joyce

Please join us in praying for our dear friend Joyce Zoschke, our Bridges Director of 14 years. Her cancer has metastasized but our hope is in the Lord. Joyce is a shining example of Christ’s love and a treasure to us all. We would like to shower her with cards of encouragement. Cards can be sent to ABC and we will make sure she receives them. If you know any past Bridges graduates, please let them know too. Thank you!

Season of Changes

We have been in a season of changes and examining every facet of our center. In doing so, we have seen a transformation is needed to make our once thriving Bridges program alive again. We are changing the criteria of Bridges from first time pregnant singles to anyone that is currently pregnant, regardless of marital status or the number of pregnancies they’ve had. This will in turn eliminate our New Additions program. Our desire is to see Bridges thrive and be a positive group setting for anyone of any background, of any income bracket to learn and grow together.

Here is our line up of programs: Bridges Mondays @ 6pm Begins October 30th A group setting for moms and dads that are at least 12 weeks pregnant. Learn & Earn Anytime during our office hours A one-on-one class for pregnancy and parenting children up to 9 years of age. Court Ordered Parenting Classes– A parenting class for parents of children ages 2-9. Forgiven & Set Free– An abortion recovery program Threads of Hope, Pieces of Joy– A Bible study on miscarriage Oil & Wine for the Wounded– A Bible study on rape

Here are some ways you can get involved in our classes: -Donate pantry snacks and bottled water to share with our clients -Donate new Boutique items such as infant clothing, wipes and pack-n-plays -Provide the devotional for Bridges class/ Childcare at ABC during the meetings -Be a volunteer for one-on-one discipleship with a client

God’s timing is always perfect. As we worked through different obstacles within ABC, He was preparing just the right person to step in and lead this vital ministry. It is our pleasure

to officially introduce to you our new Executive Director, Erica Boone.

I’m so excited to have joined the ABC team! First of all, thank you for supporting the center with your prayers, finances, material donations and volunteer time. Your sacrifice brings glory to God in the work that is accomplished with Him at the center. Over the past 6 weeks, it has been such a blessing to get to know your center staff and board. I look forward to getting to know you better and hopefully meet each of you personally. Over the last 11 years my career has been dedicated to serving the elderly as I’ve worked in and directed nursing homes and senior living communities. While

ABC may seem like a huge mind shift, the passion I have for serving others and helping families thrive through a less than ideal situation, translates very well to the work we do at ABC. I was born and raised in Ulysses, KS. After attending KU and graduating with a B.A. in Psychology, my husband and I spent one year living in Arizona, then moved to Amarillo, Texas. Amarillo will always have a very special place in my heart. As much as I tease my Texan friends about their state pride, I have a soft spot for Amarillo. We lived there for almost 8 years, during which time my two beautiful daughters were born. Work and family brought us to Garden City in March of 2016. Joey and I have been married for 12 years and have the joy of raising Adalyn (7) and Macy (2). We love being so close to my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles in Ulysses. The slower pace of life in Southwest Kansas gives us the breathing room to savor life with family. When I accepted the position as Executive Director of ABC Pregnancy Care Center and shared with others about my coming job change, I was met with tilted heads, raised eyebrows and questions. The tilted heads and raised eyebrows came because of the stark difference in work going from nursing home care to pre-born care. The question I heard most frequently was “What do they do there?” I’m curious, how would you answer that question? Of course I explained that we do free pregnancy tests and talk with pregnant moms about their options and provide assistance for them in various ways. While that’s all very true, my answer today would be different. The transforming power of the gospel is at the root of the services we provide. We share hope and help, not just through a pregnancy test, diapers and classes, but by sharing the love of Christ with the women and men who come to the center. We want to share the gospel with our clients and see their lives transformed by the power of Christ as much as we want them to choose life for their babies. We aren't just pro-life, we are pro-abundant-life. There are some very exciting things coming in the future for ABC and I’m so glad you are on this journey with us. Erica

Our annual fundraising banquet saw almost 300 people in attendance this past March! We raised nearly $50,000! That’s half of our yearly budget!

Planning is underway for 2018! Mark your calendars for March 26th. Speaker to be announced.

The venue will once again be the Clarion Inn.

We are currently looking for Banquet Underwriters to allow us to go into the evening debt free.

Building Updates

The classroom and boutique areas are getting a makeover! The lighting, insulation and new ceiling tiles have all been installed. Now we are preparing the walls for paint and then comes the fun part…decorating! If you would like to be a part of sponsoring this exciting project, please notate “Building Update” on your donation. Some items we will need to purchase are tables and chairs, a larger TV, shelving and window treatments. Drop by and see the “before” and soon the ”after”!
