For Early Education and Primary School Learners About Indigenous Literacy Day 2021 This year’s Indigenous Literacy Day celebrates stories and language in a fun and engaging way. Hosted by dynamic performer, best selling author, musician, artist and ILF ambassador, Gregg Dreise, a proud descendant from the Goomeri and Yuwalayaay people in south western Queensland and north west of New South Wales. And of course, to add a touch of celebrity charm, we have a special guest appearance by Australia’s favourite pop singer and ILF ambassador, Jessica Mauboy. This 20-minute event includes two delightful animations featuring Kriol language: 1. Yakai Beibigel – Trouble abounds for an inquisitive baby girl trying out her first steps. The story is about how to keep a baby girl safe and happy at home. Read in Kriol. 2. Tudei en longtaim – Move back and forth in time in this fascinating book comparing how life is lived now in Aboriginal communities to how it was lived in the olden days. Spoken in English and Kriol. Kids will delight in the fun and interactive nature of the event – from yelling out Yakai Gregg! everytime they see a twirling, whirling boomerang, to singing and moving with Gregg’s lively performance. Children will take a virtual flight to the Tiwi Islands to join local children at the island swimming hole and on a hunt for mussels in the mangroves. What a way to celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day! About Indigenous Literacy Day 2021

This year’s Indigenous Literacy Day celebrates stories and language in a fun and engaging way.

This 20-minute event includes two delightful animations featuring Kriol language:
