Located in Tequesta, Florida, the Lighthouse Art-Center is northern Palm Beach and southern Martin counties’ oldest and largest visual arts organization. It is a two-building operation featuring a museum and a school of art. The Lighthouse ArtCenter is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that was founded in 1964 by Christopher Norton, the son of the founders of the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Lighthouse ArtCenter Museum & Gallery has six galleries hosting more than 30,000 visitors each year for its six or seven major exhibitions, plus minor exhi-bitions and special events.

A museum-wide, kindergarten through 12th grade exhibition features students from Palm Beach and Martin county schools. Awards are given to the children and participating schools. More than 1,100 people attend these ceremonies.

The ArtCenter sponsors many off-site exhibitions and opportunities for artists, including the Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery at Midtown on PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.

The School of Art offers classes for children and adults, beginner through professional levels: ceram-ics, drawing, encaustic, jewelry, painting (acrylics, oils, and watercolors), photography, Photoshop, portrait and figure instruction, sculpture and more. The ce-ramics department features four firing methods with electric, gas, soda and raku kilns.

These free programs are provided through funds raised by donations, grants and fundraisers.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Currently, gross revenues are $1,071,000 with an operating deficit of about $1,500 and net assets of $1,358,000. With the continued support of the ArtCenter’s membership, combined with accelerated fundraising, we can continue making improvements and expanding our course and event offerings.

There are many ways to support the important programs at the Lighthouse ArtCenter, such as membership (personal or business), annual-fund donations, scholarship donations, as well as underwriting exhibitions, events, performances and lectures. Planned giving provides an added opportunity that allows people to align charitable donations along with overall financial and estate plans, often providing financial benefits that create the greatest impact on the future while maintaining security for one’s loved ones.

The Lighthouse ArtCenter Federal ID is 59-1118672.
