Faculty of Hospitality Management
In a short span of 17 years, the Faculty of Hotel Management, Amrapali Group of Institutes has carved out a
distinct niche in the academic and intellectual world in India. Located in the State of Uttarakhand, adjacent to
the World renowned- Jim Corbett National Park and nestled in the lap of the mighty Himalayas; Amrapali
Institute of Hotel Management has gained the status of being one of India's premiere professional Institute in
the field of Hospitality.
The enthusiasm and passion exhibited during the discussions on 'Sustainability Development in Hospitality and
the Tourism industry' during AVAHAN 2016 has encouraged us to introduce other discussions at the forthcoming
AHAVAN 2017 themed as Future Trends and Competencies in Tourism and Hospitality Industry - Opportunities
and challenges. The tourism and hospitality industry is growing at a rapid pace creating not only several job
opportunities but also a demand for new roles and competencies to meet future challenges of doing business. .
Issues of sustainable tourism development along with changing customer orientations have changed the face of
this industry. Gone are the days of linear developments bringing about better efficiency of doing things.
Paradigm shifts are taking place that require us to redefine organizations, the way we do business and the new
roles and competencies that meet the changing market dynamics in the next decade. Today emerging guest
profiles, the power of the social media, incredible new technologies, and competing new destinations requires
global alignment. Keeping these challenges changes in mind we are offering Avahan 2017 on 22 and 23
September, 2017 to bring in new insights, developments and main shifts taking place ithat will involve
researchers, scholars, academicians, practitioners, cutting- edge speakers and students contribute fruitful
discussions related to the theme.
AVAHAN 2016- The famous intellectually oriented fourth International conference on 'Sustainability, Compe-st ndtitiveness, and Growth in Tourism and Hospitality Industry' was held on and 21 and 22 October, 2016. The
sensational achievements of the conference were achieved by the insights given by leading professionals and
intellectuals from the Tourist and Tourism Industry and its related organizations. The meet was chaired by Prof.
Ma. Christina G. Aquino, Executive Director from the Lyceum of Philippines University, Manilla and Professor
(Dr.) Eman Helmy from the Helwan University Cairo, Egypt. Many dignified personalities from various institutes
and colleges of India like Prof. Parikshit Manhas from the University of Jammu, Prof. Nimit Chaudhary from
Indian Institute of Tourism and Management, Noida, Dr. Prashant Gautam from Panjab University, Chandigarh,
Prof. (Dr.) R C Mishra from Uttrakhand Open University, Haldwani, and many other learned personalities made
their valuable contributions during the conference. The event saw the best of exchange of knowledge in an
amiably cordial environment. The two days conference was aimed at exchanging views and knowledge based on
authentic research on the scope of sustainability, growth and competitiveness in the tourism and hospitality
industry and its prospective advancement. The event was an account of how resources can be invested through
researched ways of sustained enhancement. The prospective studies and lectures along with demonstrations
and paper presentation made the event an affable international platform of sharing and learning the productive
output of which is published in the form of the leading peer reviewed International Journal “AVAHAN” Volume

§ Paper abstract (maximum 500 words) should be
submitted at [email protected] for review
and selection.
§ The abstract should summarize the key points of the
paper with a maximum of 5 keywords that define
the subject matter.
§ All the paper abstracts will be reviewed and authors
of the accepted paper abstracts will be invited for
full paper submission.
§ Once the abstract is accepted, at least one of the
authors must register and physically present for
paper presentation at the Conference.
§ Selected papers will be considered for publication in
annual hospitality journal of Amrapali Institute of
Hotel Management - AVAHAN (a peer reviewed
International Journal)
§ Manuscripts submitted to International conference
on “Future Trends and Competencies in Tourism
and Hospitality Industry - Opportunities and
Challenges, 2017 should be original contribution
and should not have been previously published nor
under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Individual and multiple authors (maximum three)
are welcome to contribute.
§ Manuscripts must be written in English.
§ Manuscripts should not exceed 5,000 words.
§ All contributions should follow the format and style
described in the Publication Manual of the
American Psychological Association (APA, 6th
edition).
§ All manuscripts should be typed in MS WORD
format, single-spaced with one-inch margins and
using 12-point Times New Roman font (exception of
tables 10-point Times New Roman).
§ Manuscripts should include the following major
sections & sequence: title, affiliation of the authors
(e.g. university name, country), abstract (not more
than 500 words), keywords (3-5 words only), main
body(Introduction,LiteratureReview, Methodology,
Findings, Conclusion) and references.
