ABOUT THE OYSTER ROAST We are very pleased to announce the 18 th Annual Greensboro Oyster Roast in support of Family Service of Greensboro Foundation. For almost two decades, the Oyster Roast has become firmly established on Greensboro’s social calendar and has earned a reputation as one of the preeminent fundraisers in our community. The 2020 event raised $327,000 to support programs for Greensboro children and families in crisis. With COVID-19 protocols currently in place, the Oyster Roast will look a bit different in 2021. In an effort to continue to raise funds to support the work of Family Service we are launching a campaign entitled: Greensboro Oyster Roast – Restoring Hope which will culminate with a Drive Thru Event on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic School. This year’s Honorary Chairs are Liz and David Johnson. WHY COMMUNITY SUPPORT IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER We hope you and your family are Safe at Home, but we know many in our community are not safe. In fact, the issues that Family Service addresses – domestic violence, child abuse, mental health and financial stability – are only worsened by economic struggle and isolation created by the pandemic. Below are a few statistics that our service providers are reporting. Family Service has been open during the pandemic and is continuing to see clients. Calls to our crisis line are involving situations that are more complex, intense and higher risk. The number of domestic violence homicides in Guilford County is up 250% from last year. Calls to our law enforcement partners for domestic abuse and child abuse are up. Our partners are reporting a 70% increase in child abuse cases as more and more children attend school virtually and a 106% increase in internet crimes against children. Sponsors and hosts will be able to pick-up an Oyster Roast Party Pack, which includes a Shrimp Boil dinner and dessert equivalent to the number of tickets traditionally associated with their sponsorship. In lieu of the Pearls of the Oyster Roast Cocktail Party, sponsors at the $2,500+ levels will receive additional special benefits. We hope you will consider supporting the Greensboro Oyster Roast – Restoring Hope campaign to help fund local programs of Family Service of the Piedmont in Greensboro.

ABOUT THE OYSTER ROAST

We are very pleased to announce the 18th Annual Greensboro Oyster Roast in support of Family Service of Greensboro Foundation. For almost

two decades, the Oyster Roast has become firmly established on Greensboro’s social calendar and has earned a reputation as one of the

preeminent fundraisers in our community. The 2020 event raised $327,000 to support programs for Greensboro children and families in crisis.

With COVID-19 protocols currently in place, the Oyster Roast will look a bit different in 2021. In an effort to continue to raise funds to support the

work of Family Service we are launching a campaign entitled: Greensboro Oyster Roast – Restoring Hope which will culminate with a Drive Thru

Event on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic School. This year’s Honorary Chairs are Liz and David Johnson.

WHY COMMUNITY SUPPORT IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER

We hope you and your family are Safe at Home, but we know many in our community are not safe. In fact, the issues that Family Service addresses

– domestic violence, child abuse, mental health and financial stability – are only worsened by economic struggle and isolation created by the

pandemic. Below are a few statistics that our service providers are reporting.

Family Service has been open during the pandemic and is continuing to see clients. Calls to our crisis line are involving situations that are

more complex, intense and higher risk.

The number of domestic violence homicides in Guilford County is up 250% from last year.

Calls to our law enforcement partners for domestic abuse and child abuse are up. Our partners are reporting a 70% increase in child abuse

cases as more and more children attend school virtually and a 106% increase in internet crimes against children.

Sponsors and hosts will be able to pick-up an Oyster Roast Party Pack, which includes a Shrimp Boil dinner and dessert equivalent to the

number of tickets traditionally associated with their sponsorship. In lieu of the Pearls of the Oyster Roast Cocktail Party, sponsors at the

$2,500+ levels will receive additional special benefits.

We hope you will consider supporting the Greensboro Oyster Roast – Restoring Hope campaign to help fund local programs of Family Service of the

Piedmont in Greensboro.
