Dear Sir or Madam:

LETTER OF INTRODUCTION

Allow us to introduce to you our business, Independent Living and Life Skills.

Independent Living and Life Skills is a business that specializes in tutoring learners in independent living and life skills. The owner is also the author for the book, “Growing Up, Pros and Cons of Learning Life Skills and Independent Living Skills for Transitioning Out of Home.”

The above-mentioned workbook is the resource for the tutoring sessions and provides the learners with valuable living and life skills that are severely needed in this world to help them to be successful. As we look into the future it is evident that there are many teens and young adults who are leaving high school without any idea as to what is really out in this world. This book will help those learners step by step to begin to understand what it takes and what is expected out of them to be successful once they leave their home. The private tutoring sessions can provide a one to one learning experience where the learner will be able to grasp the skills at their own pace and in their own time. The workbook itself can be purchased separately without obtaining tutoring sessions.

Our mission is to teach those who need to learn these skills to help plant a seed that will grow a life time. It doesn’t make any difference who does the teaching as long as the skills are taught.

We have also created a blog so that we can spread the word and others can share their thoughts and encouragement. We hope you can join with us and help teach those who can benefit from your strength and knowledge. The site is; www.independentlivingandlifeskills.com.

In this packet we have included more information for your review and observations. We have included sites as to where the workbook can be purchased.

Thank you for your time and consideration, we hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Suzann HerrOwner/author

About the WorkbookThis book was written for teens, young adults, their families, and anyone who faces the challenges of moving from the safety and comfort of home to the formidable challenges faced by people once they’re on their own.  The book is all encompassing with the goal of helping learners deal with the simple to complex challenges faced when they leave home.  There are active learning/assessment sections written for learners that will help them to make the difficult choices they will encounter once on their own.  Much of the book is based on information derived from the author’s personal experience in the foster care field and expert studies in the area. The author brings to this a BS in Criminal Justice as well as a graduate student in Applied Behavior Analysis. This workbook includes 16 units and will cover topics such as: Current Living Situations, Information on obtaining a state driver’s license. and Personal Care. The

Chapters Include:

────Elements of Growing up

────Looking for Jobs

────Cell Phone Management

────Budgeting Your Money

The above examples are only a few of the elite worksheets that have been developed to guide and challenge

the learners mind in appropriate choice making and intellectual stimulation of real life situations.

This workbook can be used in many different types of learning experiences such as; self-direct learning or

multi-directional learning experiences depending on the learner’s preference. In using this in a self-directed

learning experience the learner will be able to take responsibility and accountability for their accomplishment in

learning and decision-making choices.

The information in this workbook is information that has fallen by the way side but is crucial for any learner

to understand before living on their own. It was written to bring back those skills and ethics to a world where

these valuable thoughts and perceptions have been lost.

We also are offering coaching/tutoring sessions for any learners that would need a more private and

structured setting. For more information on this call: Suzann Herr @ 507-434-8006. Thank you.
