An Introduction to Health & Safety in

OFFICES

Objectives of this training. · To define the basic terminology of the subject

area. · To outline the reasons for a safe and healthy workplace.

What is HSE? • H: health (the total well-being of an individual). Here we

would hear word like diseases, state of the mind and state of the health.

• S: safety (free of danger/injury/accident). Here we would talk about dangers, incident and accidents.

• E: environment (the total space that makes up your surrounding). It involves waste reduction, waste segregation and waste management.

• CLASS ACTIVITY: IDENTIFY DANGERS THAT IS INHERENT IN YOUR JOB.

WHY HSE?

Management (A) To fulfil social obligation: we must save lives and do whatever it takes.

(B) To fulfil fiscal obligation: we must save money and do what we have to do.

(C): To fulfil legal obligation: we must stay out of trouble and do what we only have to do.

WHAT CAN BE DONE TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE.• GIVE YOU TRAINING ON HSE.• GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TOOLS AND ENVIRONMENT.• MAKE YOU GET GOOD FIRST AID• CREATE AN INSURANCE COVER.• WORK WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES TO ENSURE YOU ARE
