The project literally sits in the heart of Abuja City center surrounded by all the major cultural and government sites. The scheme is within touching distance of Eagle Square, the Federal Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign affairs to the Northeast; the National Square and Cultural Centre and Millennium Tower to the Southwest; and the National Mosque further west.

Heart of the City proposes raised ground level shopping arcades along the four main boulevards surrounding the development as well as the two new streets fronting the National Park. The footpaths shelter pedestrians from the sun and rain and have secured entrance points so shoppers will always feel safe. They provide all varieties of brands found in other famous shopping streets in the world such as Bond Street in London, Orchard Road in Singapore and Fifth Avenue in New York.

As well as the numerous green spaces located within the pedestrian squares of the Heart of the City, the development provides unrivalled access to the natural world without needing to step outside of the city.

The entire project contains over 100,000 m2 of lush landscaped gardens and parks and over 31,000 m2 of pedestrianized open spaces.

The National Park is a fully green environment in the very core of Abuja, designed to be on par in spirit with other world famous urban parks such as Hyde Park in London and Central Park in New York. It offers a place for the whole family to enjoy featuring bicycle and jogging trails, open fields and courts to play sports, playgrounds, nature walks, benches for relaxation, monuments and art exhibition walls, water walkways and fountains as well as pavilion cafes. It also provides performance space for urban entertainers as well as an open air amphitheater. Together, the National Park in the middle of the two City Blocks make up the Heart of the City – Abuja development.

The design takes advantage of a natural

waterway that forms an artery running

through and connecting the two City Block

Developments with the National Park in

the center. It allows pedestrians pleasant

and safe unobstructed access between

the shopping environments and the park

without having to cross the busy road. The

waterway not only naturally cools the below

ground shopping streets but it also provide

a pleasant promenade and place to ensure

outdoor dining and coffee. It rivals other

world famous pedestrianized waterways such

as the San Antonio River Walk in America and

the Cheonggyecheon in Seoul, Korea.
