INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENT (1)Due to COVID-19, the process for assessors in 2020 is a follows:

• HOS in consultation with the candidate selects assessors• Candidate confirms the assessors availability and willingness to provide a written assessment:

Four (4) for Application for Level B academic and Level C academicSix (6) for Application for Level D academic and Level E academic

The assessors:1. Must be external to the University2. Must not have been a co-author/co-postgraduate supervisor/co-grant applicant in the past 10 years3. Must not be the candidates PhD supervisor.

The Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor then chooses two (2) assessors for Level B academic and Level C academic and four (4) assessors for Level D academic and Level E academic, to provide independent assessments.

INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENT (2)For Level B, C and D applications, the Faculty PVC may contact and confirm the availability of an additional independent assessor not nominated by the HOS or candidate, and request an independent assessment

For Level E applications, the Faculty PVC must contact and confirm the availability of at least one (1) and up to two (2) additional independent assessors not nominated by the HOS or candidate, for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Vice-President to request an independent assessment.

For Level B academic and Level C academic, the Faculty PVC will write to the independent assessors and invite them to provide an assessment on a pro forma provided to them.

For Level D academic and Level E academic, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Vice-President will write to the independent assessors and invite them to provide an assessment on a pro forma provided to them.

Independent assessments for all levels will be returned directly to the Promotions Officer in Human Resource Services no later than Friday 18 September 2020.

FACULTY PROMOTIONS COMMITTEELevel B and Level C applications are considered by the Faculty Promotion Committee chaired by the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor.

Applications from candidates outside of one of the University’s established faculties or UON Singapore will be considered by an appropriate Faculty Committee in relation to the discipline areas of the candidate, determined by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Vice President.

Candidates are invited to attend along with their Head of School an interview with the Faculty Promotions Committee.

The Faculty Promotion Committee will make a recommendation to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Vice President.

Candidates may receive feedback in relation to the academic activities requiring further development and/or ways to address development needs, facilitated through PRD.

UNIVERSITY PROMOTIONS COMMITTEEApplications for promotion to Level D and Level E are considered by the University Promotion Committee (UPC) chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Vice President.

• Level D CandidatesThe UPC will meet to assess all Level D applications and determine; those candidates needing to attend an interview. Only applicants with cases requiring clarification will be invited to attend an interview.

• Level E CandidatesAll Level E candidates are invited to attend an interview with the UPC.

The Chair will consult with the VC on the decisions of the committee on Level E candidates before all successful and unsuccessful applicants are advised of outcomes in writing.

All candidates will receive feedback in relation to the academic activities requiring further development and/or ways to address development needs, facilitated through PRD.
