ACADEMICS CBSE GRADE X 2017-18 RESULTS: The year gone by has been a particularly important one for the Wathba Campus. We are particularly delighted to inform that our 2 nd batch of 10th Grade students appeared for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board Examinations in March 2018 and our students have secured 100% results. 10 out of a total of 79 students that appeared secured above 90%. The year gone by has been a particularly important one for the Wathba Campus. We are

particularly delighted to inform that our 2nd batch of 10th Grade students appeared for the

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board Examinations in March 2018 and our

students have secured 100% results. 10 out of a total of 79 students that appeared secured

KG: Grandparents Day

The positive involvement of parents included Activities like: Origami, cooking without fire,

reading time and storytelling, an innovative method of teaching- learning enhancing the

development of our students and creating a bonding.

Grade 1 & 2: Healthy Eating: Parental involvement is vital in the overall development of the

child. As part of our efforts to include parents, ADIS WATHBA organised cooking without fire

in the school, to give opportunity to parents to spend quality time with their child. The parent

and the child worked together as a team to discover their hidden culinary talents. Where

parents created awareness about nutritional value, hygiene and cleanliness. Children

participated with their parents with full zeal and enthusiasm as they doled out nutritious, yet

delectable delicacies.

On account of year of Zayed: Parent and Child Sit & Draw Activity during UAE National

Day in December 2017 and Parent Teacher Meeting held in June 2018

Logic at Work (2017-18)

In the KenKen International Championship, the first round conducted in school had 130 participants from school, out of which 100 students got qualified for the Emirates level. From the 100 students, 25 winners emerged victorious to take up the challenge at the national level of KenKen International Championship.

At the national level, Arshia Malik of grade 5 and Varsha Rao Ailineni of Grade 8 got the gold medal for securing 10th and 16th rank respectively. Students who secured in first 20 rank in the National level exam:-

Aaron Fahad of Grade 5 has won the championship from Creative Robotics competition held

on 26.05.2018. CR-8 Robot Making and Drone flying competition was organized by Emirates

Bowling Village, Marina Mall - Abu Dhabi.

CULTURAL ACHIEVEMENTS Heart of Europe Debate Tournament

Quarter final winners and won 8th position among 32 countries. Team ADIS Strickers A (Ben

Jose, Alfia Sarvar, Pranav G) were the best performing team and were highly appreciated by

the adjudicators for being remarkable and strategic in their approach though being the novice

team.

NASA International Trip

An educational tour to New York, Niagara, Washington and Orlando, USA , organised by

Explorars: Five students from ADIS Branch 1: Shristi Banerjee , Varsha Ailineni Varsha,

Saffana Syed, Aardra Suresh and Ahmed Hanoon, accompanied by the Activity Co-ordinator,

Ms. Purnima Chaturvedi.

The objective of the programme was to provide an opportunity for learning experiences

through travel; a visit to space centres and a hands-on experience for students about life and

work in the space, a tour of Atlantis Space Shuttle, interactions with an astronaut and much

more. The culturally enriching trip had participants from varied schools and nationalities.

Inter school speed reading competition was conducted in ADIA WATHBA:-

Private International School (Bhavans), Abu Dhabi successfully conducted Bhavans Quest

Star Quiz competition in the school auditorium for National level.

Eight schools reached the semi-finals round and gave a tough battle to each other. ADIS, Al

Wathba secured the second position out of 8 teams and won a cash prize of 500$. The

Inter School Classic Play Competition

An Inter school classic-play competition was held on 20th September 2018 at Bright Riders

school on the theme- “A comedy play of modern times”. a team of eight students

participated in the competition, brilliantly acting out the play- ‘Dear Departed’. The team

included Anamika Ajithkumar, Nanditha Shyam, Anagha Vinayan, Amrita

Muralidharan, Shrishti Banerjee, Aafreen Kunhimuhammed and Alfia Sarwar. The

students returned triumphant, bagging the 2nd place, making the school and themselves

proud of their achievement.

Special Olympics T-Shirt Designing Competition:

A competition organized by Special Olympics World Games: Students from grade 10-12

designed t-shirts for athletes with intellectual disabilities, splashing colours of creativity to

make the Special Olympics to be held in 2019 in Abu Dhabi, an eventful and memorable one.

Jaya Kirupalini of Grade X and Ann Soney of Grade XII designed t-shirts that got selected

for the Olympics that would be held at Zayed Sports City Stadium, Abu Dhabi in 2019 with

around 7000 athletes participating in the grand event.

These t-shirts will be worn by all the volunteers during the Special Olympics and ADIS, Al

Wathba has also been approached by FAB (First Abu Dhabi Bank) requesting us to use the t-

shirts for their activations during the Special Olympics. Indeed, a proud moment once again

for ADIS, Al Wathba.

Hindi Utsav 2017: Organised by Embassy of India, U.A.E & Consulate General of India, Dubai.

Various competitions were held at Zonal level and winners of Zonal level participated at

National level in Dubai on 9th December, 2017.

Aribah Khan of grade XI A-F has secured 3rd Position in Hindi Declamation competition and

Shristi Banerjee of grade IX C-F secured 2nd position for Hindi Best Handwriting competition.

Interschool Hindi Diwas Competition- A Hindi inter school competition was held at Dunes

International School to enhance the talents of students through the medium of Hindi with

various competitions to develop a love for the language. Organized as a part of the Hindi

Diwas celebrations, six schools from Abu Dhabi participated in various competitions like

Emirati Civilization Dress, Instant speech and Story Writing. All winners and participants

were awarded with certificates and the overall trophy was won by Abu Dhabi Indian School,

Al Wathba.

Home Fest 2018 On the10th of May 2018, the students of grades 7-12 attended the home fest competition that was conducted in Indian International School, Sharjah. Around 13 schools across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah took part in the event. The competitions were mainly for girls and included edible arrangement, best out of waste, cooking competition, mehndi designing and painting. Sharika from Grade 10 bagged the 1st place in cooking without fire in the senior category. Aribah Gowher and Hassanah Gowher bagged the 2nd place in edible arrangement in the super senior category. Nadha, Anne and Raihana proved their innovation by securing the 2nd place in best out of waste in the super senior category by making a beautiful crown. Overall, our school swept the 3rd position.

A Zenith of Zeal ADIS Br-1 won the Over All Rolling Trophy 13th Nov: As a language gaining momentum in being a medium of instruction on an international arena, the Hindi language found its space of expression on an inter school platform with the Hindi Pratibha Sangam being held at the GEM United Indian School, Abu Dhabi. 14th February: The 5th edition of Synergy, with an aim to be an inclusive educational approach,

We are proud to announce that Abu Dhabi Indian School- Branch 1 is nominated among the

Aspnet Project Management Group by UNESCO NATIONAL

COMMISSION, Ministry of Education from 120 UNESCO affiliated schools in UAE. The UNESCO

National Commission nominated five schools in the ASPnet Project Management Group. Abu

Dhabi Indian School is the only Indian curriculum school along with the American Curriculum

and Arabic Curriculum schools to take up the major lead in various projects and competitions

to promote sustainable practices, quality education, and best practices in the school. This

opportunity also allows the lead schools to manage projects of the ASPnet in the respective

emirate or area which would provide the school with more activities and connections with

active schools and visibility.

UNESCO National Commission of UAE has launched the 1 st Tolerance and Happiness Station

under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and in

the presence of the representatives from UNESCO schools in Bahrain, Egypt and Thailand. The

1st station was held at Emirates National School, Alain, on 6thNov, 2018 to promote the

values of tolerance and happiness through sharing the best and innovative practices among

the selected five pioneering schools of ASPNET Project Management Group which followed

different curriculum, language and nationality. Abu Dhabi Indian School – Branch 1

showcased the innovative and sustainable practices such as Edible Plastic, Recycle the Bicycle

and REALP 1.1 – App for Special Education Needs which was highly appreciated by the

Minister of Tolerance and other accompanying guests. The grade 9 boys formed the Edible

Plastic with edible materials upholding the motto ‘Ban Destructive plastic, Promote Edible

plastic’. The grade 11 girls recycled the abandoned bicycles to produce electricity by pedaling

for exercise or entertainment. REALP 1.1 was developed by grade 11 boys for struggling

learners to ensure equal participation in learning irrespective of their skills variation.

Hair for Hope Campaign

Organised by Protect your Mom (PYM) in coordination with ADIS, Al Wathba, was the first of

its kind in Abu Dhabi schools, to support cancer patients across the globe and Abu Dhabi

Indian School-Branch 1, Al Wathba had the privilege to have it conducted in our School,

wherein, 24 donors donated hair for the cause.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY REPORT 2018-19 International Day of Yoga programme was held on June 21st, timing 6:30-10:30 in Um

al Emarat Park, organised by the Embassy Of India under the presence of Indian

Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri, H.H Shaikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan,

Minister of culture and knowledge Development and Her Highness Shaikha Lubna Al

Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance as the chief guests of the day.

A video messages from Honourable Prime Minister of India, Sir Narendra Modi was

also played at the venue. Yoga mats and shirts were be provided free of cost and

there were separate areas for women. There were about 10-15 students who

attended the yoga session along with our teachers from our school, ADIS Al-Wathba.

There were variety of programmes that showed the importance of Yoga and some of

the Yoga asana which helps the students to attain concentration and good memory.

Everyone were quite relaxed and refreshed after all the yoga sessions, understanding the

importance of Yoga in our daily life and how it helps to maintain our physical and mental

health. In this event we could see how people of different nationalities and cultures have

come together to practice Yoga, the very traditional health maintaining technique well

practiced in India.

SPRING CUP-2018

‘Success is no accident; it is hard work.’ ADIS Br-1 Middle School Boys’Football Team

competed in the 5- a – side Spring Cup-2018 and secured First Runner Up position

in the tournament! Bilal and Nihal (Gr-8), Aman, Razin, Rushal, Rafan, Surur &

Joel (Gr-9) constitute our efficient team, who supported the strikers, defended

the goals and displayed their skills in coordination. Aman Naushad was the highest

scorer in the group matches and was awarded the ‘Best Defender’ trophy in this

match!

CBSE UAE Cluster Athletics Championship 2018-19

Organized by Indian High School, Dubai On 18TH and 21st October, INDIAN HIGH SCHOOL, conducted CBSE

UAE Athletics championship 2018. Abu Dhabi Indian School, Branch-

1 participated in under-14, under – 17 and under -19 athletics events.

Around 850 boys and girls of 46 school participated from all over UAE.

Master Arif Mohammed of XII B_M got first position in under -19 boys

shot put and Master Donel Jayan V of VIII B_M got second position in

under -14 800 mtrs. Master Mathew Mammen got fourth position in

under – 17 shot put.

UAE Cluster in CBSE National Athletic meet which will be held from

ON November 07TH, 2018 Three students from ADIS Al Wathba Branch -1

particepated in CBSE UAE Cluster Badmintion tournament (under-14) 2018-

2019 which was hosted by GEMS UIS Al Wathba, on 7th-8th November 2018. It

was a good experince for students of our students who played against the

runners up team of the tournament unde 14 category.

CBSE UAE Cluster Table Tennis Championship 2018-19

Organized by India International School, Sharjah On 29th and 30th November, India International School, Sharjah

conducted CBSE UAE Table Tennis championship 2018. Abu Dhabi

Indian School, Branch-1 participated in under-14 and under – 17.

Around 180 boys and girls of 18 school participated from all over UAE.

Our school Boys under – 17 team (Master Praveen Raj K, Master

Kuldeep Pawar and Master Kenneth Mikhael R ) defeated DPS Sharjah

in quarter finals and defeated India International School, Sharjah in

semi finals and reached finals and got Runner up in the category.

CBSE Cluster Football (Boys) Championship 2018-19 which was

organized by Emirates Future International Academy Mussafah.

Our Under – 19 won the first match against Al Ameer School,

Ajman and second match played against with The Mellannium

School, Dubai and lost the match.

CBSE UAE Cluster Swimming Championship 2018-19

Organized by Bright Rider School, Abu Dhabi

On 16TH and 17th October, Bright Rider School, Abu Dhabi

conducted CBSE UAE Swimming championship 2018. Abu Dhabi

Indian School, Branch-1 participated in under-14 (Boys) 2 swimmers

and under 19(Boys) 4 swimmers. Around 250 boys of 24 school

participated from all over UAE.

The CBSE National Table Tennis Championship 2018 was

hosted by Kaushalya world school, Greater Noida, New Delhi

from 20th to 24th of November 2018. Around 1500 students

participated from all over India and from the Gulf.

Abu Dhabi Indian School – 1 participated in under – 17

category. The team consisted of Praveen Raj K of X D, Kuldeep

CBSE NATIONAL ATHLETICS MEET 2018-19

The CBSE National Athletics Meet 2018 was hosted by

PSSEMR School, Davanagere, Karnataka, India from 12th to

16th of November 2018. Around 2000 Athletes participated

from all over India and from the Gulf.

Master Arif Mohammed Nizam of grade XII participated in

shot-put under – 19 and Master Donel Jayan Vadakumchery of

grade VIII participated in the 800 meters under – 14 category.

January, 2018 Keral social center , Abu Dhabi conducted

Meet at officers club, Abu Dhabi for both boys and girls. Our school

boys and girls participated in the event and we won 4 gold medals, 2

silver medals and 3 bronze medals.

Ms.Anamika won two gold medals in shot put and Long Jump, Master

Adith got Bronze medal in 4X100 relay, Master Mufeed got gold

medal in 4X100 relay, Bronze medal in 200 Mtrs, Ms.Ragavi got Gold

medal in soft ball throw, Master Abdul Mueez of KG 2 won gold
