Why did I choose Managed Care?

Non-traditional pharmacy practice

My interest in Economics/ Business Undergrad: Economics minor PharmD: marketing, operational management

Experience at retail and other clinical settings taught me: Best clinical practices don’t always mean the most cost-effective

therapy How do we balance the best clinical practice and the cost?

If health plans do not cover certain drugs, patients will not be able to take the medications

Inefficient US health care system

Decisions that impact large population not individuals Focus on big picture
