SPACE COPENHAGEN DESIGNS NEW COLLECTION OF TABLES FOR MATER
Renowned Danish architect duo, Space Copenhagen, have designed a new collection of tables for Mater. The Accent Table combines a sculptural and handcrafted aesthetic, in hardwearing, yet distinguished, FSC-certified oak.
Following along the same bloodline as the highly successful 2009 Mater barstool, the Accent collection consists of three coffee tables, a larger oval lounge table and round dining table. The various sizes allow for creativity and flexibility in configuration, and creating different atmospheres for both home and public spaces.
Space Copenhagen describe their approach to this new design as a slower aesthetic, calling it 'Poetic Modernism'- reaching back to the idea of being unhurried, approachable, authentic and immediately familiar in how you understand them and accept design.
Made in Europe, the FSC-certified oak with semi-porous structure allows the wood to breathe and patinate over time. The Accent Table is a very honest and straightforward design, which is destined to become a classic.
“We really felt a great need in our projects to have these solid wooden tables in an updated version, both for private homes and in hospitality areas. We believe these solid wooden pieces are so important and sculptural and will add so much value to these spaces among upholstered furniture where you really can feel the warmth and quality of different types of wood surfaces”, explains Signe Bindslev Henriksen, designer at Space Copenhagen.
About the company:Mater was established in 2006 in Denmark by Henrik Marstrand, who had a vision to cre-ate iconic and beautiful design, based on an ethical business strategy. Through collaborations with an external network of established and fresh talent, Mater combines high-end furni-ture and lighting, constructed with methods that support people, local craft traditions and
