Purpose of Training

• Introduce new online test and new vendor

• Define roles

• Identify training resources (websites)

• Tell you what you need to know

• Share timeline and first steps

New Online Test

• ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is an online assessment.

• Paper tests are available but a waiver must be submitted to receive them.

• No tiers

• Group administration for all domains

• Central scoring

New Vendor

• Data Recognition Corporation (DRC)

• Operates test engine – WIDA Assessment Management System (WIDA-AMS)

• Do not contact MetriTech for anything

Defining Roles

• District Test Coordinator = LEA Test Coordinator/Charter School Test Director

• School Test Coordinator = School Test Coordinator

• Test Administrators = LEP Personnel

• Technology Coordinators = Varies by district but most always an IT employee

• LEA Test Coordinators set up Test Administrator accounts (permissions can be set for STCs)

Training Resources

• You need access to two websites.

• Wida.us is for training

• Wida-ams.us is for setting up accounts and administering the assessment.

• Walk-through of websites and training resources

• Permissions will default but can be changed (see performance matrix on page 31 of user guide).

What You Need to Know

• Ordering will be done by file transfer

• The file will be pulled from PowerSchool

• PowerSchool must be updated by December 1st

• Grades 1-3 will take Writing domain using paper/pencil

What You Need to Know

• Headsets will be used for the test.

• DPI will be providing one set for every ten students.

• They will need to be cleaned after use.

• If you miss one of the many trainings offered, you will be fine.

What You Need to Know

• As long as you take the online training and have a clear understanding of the process, you will be fine.

• The following accommodations must be entered into PowerSchool prior to the file transfer:

– Manual Control of Item Audio

– Repeat Item Audio

– Extended Speaking Test Response Time

First Steps

• Go through the checklist and obtain training certificate at wida.us.

• Set up your WIDA-AMS account when you receive an email from DRC.

• Set up School Test Coordinator and Test Administrator accounts.

• Make sure INSIGHT software is downloaded to computers used for administrations.
