CLASS DESCRIPTIONSCLASS DESCRIPTIONS

After the class title and instructor names, you’ll see a col-ored icon noting the “track.” These icons, described below, are designed to help those new to the industry and anyone looking to determine what value a class has in relation to the type of work they do.

Next to each class, there is also an indicator based on the instructors' recommendations as to the content level of each class:

undamentalsntermediatedvanced

General Locksmithing. Good classes for beginners, new people to the industry and those needing refresher information.

Institutional Locksmithing. Geared toward on-staff security professionals in facilities ranging from schools, office complexes and municipalities to healthcare facilities.

Automotive Locksmithing. Designed for those who specialize in automotive locksmithing or those who do auto work as a general part of their business.

Safe/Vault Technician. Geared toward the technician who works on safes and vaults and the special problems encountered with those items.

Electronic Locksmithing. Designed for one of the fastest-growing segments of our industry: those working on alarms, access controls and locking systems that don’t always incorporate a physical key.

Investigative Locksmithing. While all classes are good for the investigative locksmith, as they add to the knowledge needed to examine and testify, these classes are of particular interest and/or part of the required training to sit for the Certified Forensic Locksmith (CFL) certification.

Business /Sales/Marketing. While we all may be gifted and talented hands-on technicians, the one place we all may need help in is hearing other views of operating a business.

There is a $25 fee to change classes on site. If you need assistance, call 800-532-2562.

FORM

3Submit this form with Registration Form 1. Do not use this form for after-class PRP exams.

Proof of the PRP/STPRP certification assures your customer that he/she is dealing with a professional who has the education and technical competence to provide safe and efficient service. These certifications separates you from those who claim to be professionals but do not have your knowledge or training. Sitting for an exam that includes the mandatory categories or includes at least 8 electives is approved for a 1/2 point towards the ALOA PRP/STPRP recertification requirements. If you plan to participate in the PRP/STPRP, include the proper fee on the convention registration form, complete the PRP/STPRP registration form and submit it along with your convention registration form.

Those taking the Lincoln Memorial 5-day package may sit for the PRP/STPRP free of charge. Must register for testing before June 16, 2018. Submit test options on the right with your registration.

Note: The PRP Resource Guide and the Safe Technician’s Reference Manual can be ordered on the Registration Form.

NOTE: PRP Elective tests can only be taken once during convention. For example, you cannot take an after-class test PRP Exam and also take that exam at the PRP/STPRP Testing sitting.
