ACCOUNTANCYPROFESSIONALLEVEL 7
Equivalent to a master’s degree, the Accountancy Professional Level 7 is available with either a CIMA or an ACCA qualification, depending on whether the apprentice is working towards qualifying as a Chartered Accountant or a Chartered Management Accountant.
3 6 M ONTH PROGRAMME
ACCA qualification leading to Chartered AccountantshipOn completion of this qualification the apprentice will become a Chartered Accountant.
Learners will follow the full ACCA Qualification syllabus and learn the technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for the Level 7 apprenticeship standard; this includes business insight, professional scepticism, and leadership. Apprentices must also complete ACCA’s Ethics and Professional Skills module so they can understand and apply the relevant ethical standards to their own behaviour.
Development focuses on the drivers of change that will shape the role finance professionals will play in your organisation, such as digital technologies, increased regulation, stronger governance, globalisation and higher expectations overall. This means they will be fully trained to future-proof your organisation, and add value to your organisation from day one with their professional skills, business acumen, and strategic thinking.
On completion of the ACCA apprenticeship, the learner will achieve ACCA chartered certified status and the option to work towards professional membership with the ACCA.
CIMA qualification leading to Chartered Management AccountantshipCompleting this qualification means the learner will become a Chartered Management Accountant.
As accountants in business, Management Accountants need to understand how businesses operate, how they are managed, how people work together, and how strategy is formulated.
They also need to be able to provide the analysis that managers need to understand the economics of a business’s operations, to manage performance and to manage risk. These capabilities are in addition to the core technical financial accounting skills expected of a professional accountant.
The qualification is broken down into four levels and is structured around three pillars that work across all levels. The levels being: certificate, operational, management and strategic, with the pillars running through the levels being: enterprise, financial and performance.
On completion of the CIMA Professional Qualification, the learner will be awarded the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation, recognising their value and showcasing their professionalism, business and leadership skills, ethics and commitment.

APPRENTICESHIPLEVY
Education in the UK has changedWith the introduction of the apprenticeship levy and new apprenticeship standards, there is an exciting opportunity for employers to look at the broader opportunity that apprenticeships offer in developing a more diverse, skilled, qualified and sustainable management team as well as providing a sustainable recruitment and training model.
Changes to the types and levels of programmes available and the broader eligibility criteria for those who can undertake an apprenticeship, mean that employers can utilise their levy funding or Government co-investment to upskill and qualify a wide range of roles within their existing workforce as well as creating a pipeline for their talented future workforce.
Apprenticeship reform agenda
FundingThe way that apprenticeships are funded has changed; the apprenticeship levy and a new 95% co-investment model of government funding for non-levy paying employers is now available.
StandardsTransition from existing generic apprenticeship frameworks to new employer-led apprenticeship standards started in 2014. With the introduction of new degree apprenticeships, it is now possible to deliver apprenticeships from level 2 to level 7.
DeliverySignificant change in the actual make-up of apprenticeships moving to a model of independent third party End Point Assessment (EPA) for new apprenticeship standards, being delivered by providers on an approved register of apprenticeship training providers.
GovernanceImplementation of a new government quango:The Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA), April 2018 due to become Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

It is payable by employers in the UK at the rate of 0.5% of the payroll cost through PAYE alongside Income Tax and National Insurance.
Employers will not pay the first £15k of the levy, which effectively means that the levy will only be payable on payrolls in excess of £3 million per year.
Public sector organisations will also pay the levy if their payroll meets the above criteria and in addition 2.32% of their workforce are now required to be apprentices.
