INTRODUCTION

Research is a major force in Nursing, and the evidence generated from research is changing

practice, education, and health policy. Our aim of organizing this program is to create an

excitement, instill extracurricular research information, explore the areas of conducting

research, application of evidence based nursing practice, demystify the difficulties in

Research and statistics, use statistical applications, encounter the ethical issues, use the

appropriate channel for dissemination of research outcomes among undergraduate, post

graduate, research scholars as well as faculty of Nursing profession. This emphasize the

importance of being able to read, critique, conduct, guide and communicate the research so

that, such evidences can be used to make changes in the practice.

A major goal of professional nursing and health care is the delivery of Evidence based care.

By making Research an integral part of nursing education we can facilitate the movement of

research in to the mainstream of nursing. We hope this scientific session increases Nurses

awareness of the knowledge that has been generated through Nursing research and that this

knowledge is relevant to the practice.

Sumandeep Nursing College takes pride in extending heartily welcome to the wonderful

event of 5th National conference on Research Methodology - Enhancing Innovative and

Futuristic Practice in Nursing.

REGISTRATION:

The conference commenced as scheduled at 8.30 am in the morning with a warm

reception of the esteemed guests of the day with kumkum and diya, while the registration of

participants from various colleges of Gujarat was executed at front desk.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS & UNVEILING THE THEME

National conference started by unveiling the theme of 5th national conference by key note

speaker and organizing chairperson of conference, Dr. Ravindra H.N. Principal, Sumandeep

Nursing College, SVDU. Sir delivered key note address & set a perfect platform for

Conference- resource persons to deliver their expertise in the area of research methodology.

FIRST SCIENTIFIC SESSION: IDENTIFY RESEARCH PROBLEM THRUST

AREAS:

After the key note address the first session commenced by 9:30-10-30 am, for this first

scientific session the chair person were Dr. A K Seth, Dean, Allied Health Sciences, SVDU

& Dr. Premnath Hiryur, Dean, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, SVDU. Resource person

was Dr. T. Sivabalan, Professor / Vice- Principal, Pravara Institute of Nursing, Loni. Sir has

enlightened the gathering with his valuable insight and words of wisdom on the topic of

research problem.

INAUGURATION CEREMONY:

While making the guest feel at ease the inauguration ceremony took its form. The event was

blessed with the presence of:

WELCOMING OF DIGNITARIES:

Welcoming of our respected dignitaries was done with saplings (Young Tree), as this

conference is transferring message of green initiative, therefore we offered beautiful saplings

to welcome guest with high range of claps and smiles

REMEMBERING OF ALMIGHTY GOD BY PRAYER & LAMP LIGHT:

Blessings from God Almighty was evoked with a beautiful prayer song sung by the

third year B.Sc. Nursing students following which the dignitaries were escorted to light the

lamp which is a symbolic for dispelling the darkness of ignorance.

BLESSINGS BY HONORABLE PATRONS:

After welcoming of all respected dignitaries on the dias, Dr. Rajesh P Bharaney, Vice

Chancellor, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth had given best wishes for the event and conveyed

beautiful messages regarding success of the national level conference. Shree I A Kadiwala

sir, Vice president, GNC appreciated to organizers to chose the needful topic.

SECOND SCIENTIFIC SESSION: SCOPE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF

RESEARCH IN NURSING.

Then after 15 minutes tea break, scientific session second started. For this session the Chair

persons were Dr. Bhavna Dave, Dean, K.M Shah Dental College, SVDU & Dr. T.

Sivabalan, Professor / Vice- Principal, Pravara Institute of Nursing, Loni & Resource person

was Dr. Pragna Dabhi, Registrar,Gujarat Nursing Council. Experts explore the concept of

significance & importance of research in nursing which is very important session.

THIRD SESSION: DISSEMINATION AND COMMUNICATION OF RESEARCH

The thirdscientific session For this session the Chair persons were Dr. Lavlesh Kumar,

Medical Superintendent, Dhiraj Hospital, SVDU and Dr. P.R. Jha, Professor, Dept. of

medicine, SBKSMI& RC, SVDU.

Resource person was Dr. Chandramani B More, Professor & Head, Dept. of Oral Medicine,

FOURTH SESSION: RESEARCH REVIEW, SOURCES AND WRITING

After Lunch break fourth session started. The Chair persons were Dr. Prasad Muley,

Professor, Dept of Pediatrics,SBKS MI&RC, SVDU & Principal & Dr. K.S. Poonacha,

Professor, Dept. of Pedodontics, K.M Shah Dental College, SVDU

Resource person was Dr. Anil Sharma, MTIN, Changa. Sir delivered session on how to find

reviews, different techniques & sources for the same

FIFTH SESSION: FORMS OF TRANSITIONAL RESEARCH AND FIELD PROJECTS

The Fifth scientific session For this session the Chair persons were Dr. Lakhan Kataria,

Professor, Dept of Psychiatry, SBKS MI&RC, SVDU & Mr. Rajesh P, Associate professor,

Sumandeep nursing college, SVDU.

Resource person was Dr. Kandarp N Talatti, Director, and Foundation for Diffusion of

Innovation. Experts explore the concept of forms of transitional research & field projects.

Conference Day -2 (Friday, 5-7-2019) SIXTH SESSION: OVERVIEW TO QUALITATIVE RESEARCH AND

MIX METHODS On the second day of conference sixth session started. For this session the Chair persons

were Dr. Hetal Pandya, Professor & HOD, Dept. of Medicine, Dhiraj Hospital, SVDU &

Mr. Siddaram Sarate, Asst. Professor, MTIN, Changa.

Resource person was Dr. Medha Wadhwa, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of management,

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth. Resource person very nicely explained about the qualitative research

& mixed method.

SEVENTH SESSION: CONCEPT OF SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND METANALYSIS

Seventh session: For this session the Chair persons were Dr. Lata Parmar, Principal,

College of Physiotherapy, SVDU & Dr. Arti Muley, Professor, Dept of Medicine, SBKS

MI&RC, SVDU

Resource person was Dr. Monali Shah, Professor, Dept. of Periodontology, KM Shah Dental

College, SVDU. Experts explained about systematic review & metanalysis, which is now a

days mushrooming in the field of research.

EIGHT SESSION: QUALITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS

Eight session: For this session the Chair persons were Dr. Ramachandra S. Hooli, Nursing

Director, Parul Institute of Nursing, Vadodara & Mr Nirmal Raj, Associate professor,

Pediatric nursing department, Sumandeep nursing college, SVDU

Resource person was Dr. Jaishree Ganjiwale, Asso. Prof (Stats), Charutar Arogya mandal,

Anand. Experts focused on Qualitative research methods.

NINTH SESSION: EXPLORING THE CONCEPT OF BIOETHICS Ninth session: For this session the Chair persons were Dr. Subhasish Chatterjee, Director,

Department of Management, SVDU & Dr. Jasmin Jasani, Professor & HOD, Dept. of

Pathology, SBKS MI&RC, SVDU

Resource person was Dr. Niraj Pandit, HOD & Professor, Dept of Community medicine,

SBKS MI&RC, SVDU

Experts explore the concept of Bioethics which is very important in the field of research

TENTH SESSION: DATA INTERPRETATION AND ANALYSIS IN RESEARCH

Tenth scientific session: For this session the Chair persons were and Dr. Arvind Chaudhry,

Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, SBKS MI&RC, SVDU and Dr. Arti Shah,

Professor & HOD, Dept. of Respiratory Medicine, SBKS MI&RC, SVDU.

Resource person was Mr. Mayur Shinde, Statistitian, Sardar Patel University, Anand

Experts discussed on data interpretation & analysis.

PAPER PRESENTATION & POSTER PRESENTATION

During the scientific sessions on day first paper presentation was done in Sumandeep

Nursing College and the evaluators for that are Mrs. Indravati Rao mam & Mr. Dayanand

Belgavi sir. Total nine presentations were there and among them best two paper presentations

were awarded.

Winner 1: Ms. Frenny J Emanual, Faculty, MTIN, Changa &

Winner 2: Mrs. Janki Patel, Asst. Prof. Parul Inst. Of Nursing, Vadodara

On second day Poster presentation was done. In that Seven posters exhibited from different

institutes and best two were awarded. The evaluators for poster presentation were: Mr.

Rahul Sharma, Assistant prof. Management, SVDU & Mrs. Robby Solanki, HOD, Asso.

Prof.OBG Nsg, SNC

CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION:

Distribution of certificates to the delegates marked an end to an eventful day. Certificate was

distributed by principal of various colleges to all the delegates from other colleges students.

An overwhelming crowd of 320 Students Delegates & Faculty Delegates from Various

Nursing Colleges of Gujarat, 20 Chair persons & 10 resource person made up the audience

for the day as per the targeted goal of the organizing committee.

The conference was huge success as evidenced by positive feedback from faculty and

students of various colleges.
